I can say with sincerity that if D3 isn’t approved by Sony/Bungie, I will never play another game from these companies for the remainder of my life.
I’ve been playing Destiny since the beta release in 2014, having bought the Ghost Edition of the first game (which was a significant expense for me at the time) and every collector’s edition available thereafter. Growing up with Halo, Destiny felt like the natural evolution. Like molding the mechanics of WoW, with the aesthetics of Halo, and the gunplay of Call of Duty. It had the special sauce and to this day, there is no other game quite like it. Poor decision making at senior levels of leadership have always been an impediment to this game’s potential.
D3 would be an opportunity to start anew with a renewed focus on player experience and retention. Hell, I’d even buy Marathon if there was a formal announcement for D3 because I want to invest in Bungie’s future, but I will not reward poor behavior from senior leaders of these companies. Destiny 2 will be the last game I ever play from Bungie/Sony if they stupidly choose not to make D3.
To Bungie, don’t turn your back on the many people with thousands of hours and thousands of dollars invested in the Destiny universe.
To Sony, don’t be stupid. You are sitting on an IP gold mine. You just need the right people in leadership to make the original vision into a reality.
