So you shot d2 in the head . Promised dlcs well they aren't happening. D2 has more players the marathon. Marathon will die not cause its bad . It will die cause its very niche game and you lost over half players since launch. If your making d3 it be a miracle if you build trust agin but I doubt it

3 RepliesEdited by Griever: 5/21/2026 10:27:31 PMBasically how I see it. They had plenty of chances and more than enough player feedback even before EOF to know more than half of what they were bringing in would drive players away, but still did it. They did the equivalent of ignoring signs in every language that warn "Caution: hot" and still stuck BOTH hands into the fire to see if it would burn. Final update for D2 and it doesn't even sound like it's wrapping anything up. Shadow and Order gets delayed 3 months and so far we see, all we're getting is what should've already been in the game or things players have been begging them to add for a minimum of 1 year now, ranging as far back as launch, no addition to the story at all so far. From the new Nightstalker melee, Sparrow Racing, to no longer time gating event gear (which I'm half expecting to not see all of them as tiered loot given their track record). Not even a third darkness subclass or word of any of the dozen or so exotic catalysts we still have yet to get. Oh, but Marathon will keep getting updates it looks like. The game no one wanted, the game with fewer players than Destiny, the game intended for a completely different audience than their ONLY player base, the game that practically TRIED to abort itself, will still be getting updates. The game that will only come close to a success if they remove the severe consequences of death or add PvE only modes, will still be getting updates instead of the one with the majority of your players, which makes perfect sense 🙄. Ending on such a low note doesn't exactly give much hope for D3 if they're even working on it at all. God forbid they launch that how they did D2: all our favorite weapons gone, near complete gameplay overhaul that will spend a year to revert, then spending years bringing back things we should've never lost.

They really wanted for marathon to be the next big thing. They were probably planning to ditch Destiny all along and are still doing so even though marathon's a flop. And I'm so glad it did flop, get what you deserve.

2 RepliesMarathon is toast, what a stupid decision for a game nobody wanted! God forbid you Listen to your main player base for a D3 on a new engine, nah, you know better… right… Bungie’s poor management and arrogance has ruined them.

Yes, it was worth it...want to see my multi million dollar car collection?"
It will die cause its very niche game and you lost over half players since launch
you are wrong they lost way more, their peak was at 88k, and the average these days is between 10-15k

Edited by ArmyKnight75: 5/22/2026 3:28:30 AMMarathon was doomed from the start. Destiny players and casuals do not trust Bungie to handle a game appropriately or to treat the community with respect.

It was TOTALLY worth it! Check out my new cars! -PP

1 ReplyMost recently "we" paid for content... they aren't giving us what we paid for. Historically... they asked us to pay for stuff... "we" did... and then they removed it. And "we" kept trusting them to bring it back... what we paid for and already had. So, yknow.

3 RepliesI swear they just said there's no way they were ending d2 because they didn't want dead games

Was it worth it? Bungie made a fortune from the franchise, of course it was worth it.

9 RepliesThey are working on a different game. It looks like they gave up on Marathon too.
