Wonderful game over the years! Interestingly it also has double the player numbers of marathon!

5 RepliesNot just D2, Jason Shrier reports on Bloomberg, that the Decision to not peruse d3 was made earlier this year. Also massive layoffs announced as well today. The staff had no idea it was happening until it was announced. Bungie is cooked as a company, Marathon needs so much work to get it to mass market appeal, but without money or devs, I can't see it happening

This is the moment that Bungie came to the conclusion that Players wanted a super hard, super grindy experience, balanced around 3 player fireteams, pushed out as a minimum viable product, never over deliver was the mantra, sweat existing assets. (Sounds familiar? some sort of other game they produced with these core pillars?) This is when they stopped listening to the player base at large, this is when they said, we know best FFS. We're Bungie, the makers of Halo and Destiny. Massive drop in revenues and player headcount. Now I can hope Sony will give the IP to another studio to remake D1, or at least release the supercut of D1 that made them rebuild it a year before launch.

The writing was on the wall. Bungie played limbo in every aspect of this game after the launch of Final Shape. The bar could literally not get any lower. Destiny 2 was bound to fail and Tyson Green’s silence spoke louder than any TWID. Not sure what the community was hoping for after most of the resources were diverted to *sigh* Marathon. Looking forward to Destiny 3, unless Bungie is in some way shape or form involved in the project.

Goodbye </3 Much love to all our community and thank you for all the good time's. Never played and probably never will play Marathon, doesn't tickle my testy's. But I'm still gunna grind this beach till its dead and buried. Might feel like a limp 'chicken' at a hen-house now but i'ma still play with it... hmmm maybe not the best visual. My clans open to all who wanna remain to the end <3 See ya all June 9ths anyway. Peace

They abandoned D2 the minute they took away our power levels, nerfed basically every weapon we had and forced the portal into the game knowing full well that it was going to fail (according to the research they themselves did before D2 even launched). And I really should be grateful for that because TFS was the end of the game I loved so everything since then has been me coming to terms with that end.

Last thing i did before i heard the news, was a solo flawless Ghost of the Deep. I am glad that i did it before, because i would not have been able to otherwise. I guess this was my last achievement in this amazing game.

Marathon the only one that didn’t get canceled or taken by Sony. There’s still the D3 development leaks, but -blam!- knows.
