During the Sony Earnings Call, apparently they didn't even refer to Destiny by it's name. They referred to it as their "long-term asset." Bungie doesn't care about Destiny. Sony doesn't care about Destiny. The last time any dev cared about Destiny, was when Asobi put Cayde in Astro Bot.

Destiny 2 has been in decline for years, with Forsaken and Lightfall being notable exceptions. Whether we like it or not it seems that Sony/Bungie consider Destiny 2 as non recoverable (no trials jokes, lol). I think that the people that created Destiny are mostly gone. The staff there now considering Marathon to be ‘their game’. That’s what they’re interested in, not the relic that they inherited. On top of that I believe that Marathon will require less development time/effort/cost in an ongoing basis compared to D2. Basically it’ll be cheaper to run and require less staff. Which ties in with what’s expected this summer. Marathon is the way forward for Bungie, if there is one. The current pitch as a hardcore extraction shooter is exactly what they wanted to make but it is clearly too narrow in scope and hasn’t attracted enough players. That they’ve accepted this need to change direction already, instead of doubling down on it is pleasantly surprising. Adding PvE greatly expands the potential playerbase, and it should have been there from the start, imo.

They're not ignoring destiny... They went to the gas station to get milk and got mugged and are holding up in the ER and waiting on Dr. Sony to perform an exorcism in their bank account...
