Speaking of lurking! Did you know stoplight loose jaw fish are capable of emitting a red light? This light is invisible to most deep sea creatures and is currently theorized to be used to help find prey and possibly communicate with other members of its species.

2 RepliesThe loose jaw is called a loose jaw because there's no skin or muscle on the underside of its jaw. Only a tendon to help it open and close its mouth. What an unusual evolution. I've always wondered what advantage the fish had to have developed like this. 🤔
