Cross Save - Account already linked error
I can't figure this out. I have an xbox account and a steam account. Both have bungie profiles but I'm returning from a long time hiatus. I don't remember if cross save even existed when I stopped playing.
I log into my Xbox bungie account, no accounts are linked. When I try to link my steam account I receive an error saying "These accounts cannot be linked. Already linked to other game platform accounts."
Ok. It's not my Xbox account because there isn't a linked account shown in either cross save or settings.
So, I login to my steam bungie account, no accounts are linked. Try to link my Xbox account and receive the same error.
I tried clearing cache, using another browser, and incognito. I'm at a loss here. Anyone have any idea what the problem might be?

2 RepliesEdited by BNGHelp5: 4/25/2026 12:48:54 AMHey there, the issue sounds like it is because both accounts have a Bungie Account. The error message is slightly misleading. As of March 2025, it is no longer possible to unlink a platform account from its Bungie Account. That means that while your XBox account and Steam account do not have another platform account linked to them, you're unable to link them together because it'd require one to be detached from its current Bungie Account - which can no longer happen.
