Just being an armchair Developer. I realize that any similarities my ideas have to future Destiny ideas are purely coincidence and that by publishing this here, I lose all legal rights to these ideas.
Destinations
-The default for Public Events should be a sort of large-scale onslaught game crossed with the occasional delve into a lost sector to make the boss drop heroic loot. There would be three states for each zone: Hostile, contested and secure. Secure zones have combat frames patrolling them and friendly npcs scanning the area with datapads and conducting research. Contested zones have ammo crates and red bar enemies with the occasional orange bar; some banes and enemy tactics are not advanced, but present. Objectives appear and are necessary to engage with or risk losing vanguard support. Hostile zones have rally flags and mainly orange bars and champions. Any lower-level enemies are utilizing banes or stealth tactics, suicide units and other advanced tactics such as swapping out when they begin to lose health. Enough pressure at this level invites an incursion by an area boss that may be damageable without a relic from inside a lost sector or strike arena, but these will always upgrade the loot from these drops when used correctly. If these areas are still instantiated, the max fireteam size will still be 3, so every team that goes in may have the potential to bring back the weapon or tactic that makes the boss a Heroic Public Event. After killing the boss, the threat level drops, and the enemies begin to retreat under covering fire. Barring reinforcement, they keep retreating or are killed and the threat level drops again. These enemy-dense activities should be the main way people farm for destination loot or reputation with that destination's vendor and leveling up their guns or anything else that requires kills and xp. Vanguard support could be the renegade abilities, orbital strikes from Revenant Onslaught, and turrets, whether automated or manned. Plus, it would be nifty to see your ship hovering there and providing you a crafting bench and postmaster at every LZ.
Gameplay
-Space Combat. In some capacity. The more high-speed and large-scale, the better.
-RPG party system for NPCs that will accompany you on missions where you can't have or refuse to use other players. Have them be selectable from your other loadout slots and then have a menu for AI behaviors.
-Ghost Missions. They could be as simple as spying on the enemies as a stealth mission, finding a safe place to revive the guardian, or as complex as helping npcs by taking over surveillance cameras and guiding them to safety.
-Remixing aspects somewhat;
-Lethal Current: Damaging a Jolted Target w/Melee attacks also Blinds them, being amplified increases reload speed and defeating jolted targets makes you amplified.
-Flow State: While Amplified, your dodge recharges more quickly, you are more resilient while dodging, and your next melee attack has increased lunge range, jolts and created a damaging aftershock.
(I feel like this allows people who currently pair the two (very common) will not notice a difference. To them, it is neither a buff or debuff. However, to people who experiment in the sandbox a bit, this carves out an identity for Lethal current to be a more weapon-focused aspect with a minor benefit for melee and Flow State to become a more melee-focused aspect with a minor focus in dodging.)
-Into the Fray:
While holding a tangle, hold LT to create a walking shield that gives allies inside woven mail and unraveling rounds for 5 seconds upon leaving. Severs enemies inside. Hold RT to slam tangle for more damage but no woven mail pulse. Shooting and throwing results in old behavior.
(This was the last aspect of warmind cells not transferred over to tangles; the interactions where you held onto one and used its effects nearby your allies.)
-Combining aspects:
-Tectonic Harvest and Cryoclasm (these are some of the older aspects in the game. They do very little)
-Grim Harvest and Shatterdive (I was advocating for this before the buff that gave you full frost armor, but it's an older aspect and if anything, now has too much synergy to ignore.
-Glacial Harvest and Iceflare Bolts. (Same as T harvest and CC.)
The stasis aspects are begging for something more interesting to take their place. Maybe something that detonates stasis shards or combines multiple fragments?
-Ensnaring Slam and Threaded Specter (slam got buffed to where it gives woven mail on landing, but I really liked the idea of being able to choose the tool you needed for that engagement and having a method of suspending on prismatic hunter, but also these two fight for the same resource: the dodge.)
-Trapper's Ambush and Vanishing Step. (this is kind of a rookie trap in that if a player doesn't utilize it right, they may end up caught out. I pair these up sometimes if there is another method for going invis in my kit but I don't love them. Together, they would free up a slot for Bungie to make an aspect that has nothing to do with being invisible. Maybe overshields or allowing us to bakris-blink on void?
-Icarus Dash and Heat Rises or Hellion
(I get that it's a powerful tool in pvp and damn-near mandatory to take, but in PVE it JUST allows some more convenient movement options to keep us interested. I think it would be nice to then make the effects of Speaker's Mask into an aspect and change that exotic to make the well of radiance as good as it was pre-nerf, since the main issue was the super itself being a crutch and most threat comes from screenshake these days anyhow)
-Prismatic 2.0
The subclass has not received any additional aspects, grenades, supers, melees or fragments since inception. It would be worth it to find ways to balance the ability to combine any aspect from any subclass (of different elements, otherwise why not use the pure subclass?). Post the combinations you'd be excited for in the comments.
-give every subclass a roaming and one-off super so they can cast the roaming super at half-super bar. (this would compete with transcendence on prismatic and allow roaming supers to be useful again)
-Weaker and older exotic armors should become 5-set bonuses. This allows people to play with an all-legendary look and not be penalized for not taking an exotic. D1 exotics that have been supplanted should become either Exotic or Legendary ornaments with interactions with their d2 counterparts. Ex: Helm of Inmost light looks like a basic, cracked d1 titan helm but when worn with Heart of Inmost light or the exotic class item Stoicism, it emits the signature glow in the color of the subclass. Hell, if it were up to me, all exotics would be a thing you could add to legendary armor so you didn't have to keep them in your inventory and grind for the perfect roll; you would grind up your perfect legendaries
Aesthetics
-Cutscene Viewer. If every cutscene exists somewhere, it should call your current guardian's model for screenshots, but also so that new players can somewhat experience the stories from the past.
-reversible or custom shaders.
-transmogging exotic class items into legendaries (c'mon, let us do it! it's not like we can tell at a glance which roll of relativism the enemy on the trials team is using.
UI
-Portal should be the home for "menu-selected" activities. This should only be a resort for solo activities and things that can't be found in the world. Anything that's difficult and requires a fireteam should try its best to have a real rally flag or vendor you go to in order to queue for it so you can ask for help in local chat and feel connected to the community. It's wasted on things like lost sectors right now because they need to be completed solo for exotic rewards.
-Alternatively, it should be the place for legacy activities. Things that are not current to the game world. This would allow the live team to have, for example, Nessus as it was terraformed by The Conductor, with Failsafe missing from the Exodus Crash in the world when you travel there and then have Nessus Battlegrounds be strikes available in the portal.
-It should replace the categories that are currently on the "worlds" tab and merge with that tab. Maybe it's a little complex, but it would benefit from contextual controls to zoom, drop down menus on the left and right and perhaps "inspect" a destination to see what strikes and story campaigns are attached to that destination. The left and right menus can be "what's new, (aka patch notes, live events, etc)" and tracked quests or triumphs.
-The scrolling "quickplay" menu box should just be present in orbit. If the objective truly is speed of access, then it could feature any/all content but it should be the first thing your cursor gets too in orbit. Maybe even present right below where Journey and Portal are currently.
-The pop ups after a match are getting excessive and covering up the bottom 6th of the screen far too often. It obscures my grenade, melee, ammo, super, etc.
-If a vendor sells something, let them sell it always. Let them sell their entire stock. If you really need the players that log on to buy a roll of something and then log off, then have the vendors' rolls change every week or whatever, but if Ada-1 Sells everything from Vanilla D1 armor to Episode Heresy armor, let her.
-Give Zavala the portal for Fireteam Ops, Shaxx the Crucible ops button, and Crow the Pinnacle ops button. Just like how you can find Trials players around Saint-14 every weekend, it would encourage us to see how many people at the tower are engaging with these activities and help people find fireteams.
-There ought to be a terminal or tab for lore entries that allow you to highlight and elucidate proper nouns, especially if they have their own web of connections. Ex: Ana Bray -> Battle of Twilight Gap -> House of Wolves ->Variks the Loyal

Stop it, D3 is not a magical fix. D3 will just be D2 with all the same problems, just a different name.

Destiny 3 Ideas - No more planets, no more destinations, only the Portal! You’re limited to 3 weekly activities whether it’s PvP or PvE, after that you must pay with Silver to play more! - More eververse. I love the eververse store so much, it should be the first thing that pops up when you log in.
/s
Patrols zones, and the “open world” in general, would be super cool if they did something akin to Destiny 2, with tiered difficulties, which kinda sounds like what you’re describing.

1 ReplyDestiny 3 idea …. Should have started years ago !
-
3 RepliesPortal should be the home for This is where I stopped reading
-
1 ReplyThat sounds like Destiny 2.5. If there is to be a Destiny 3 then it should be a new game, built from the ground up in a new engine. Nothing copy/pasted from Destiny 2.

You forgot about the most important part. A new team. Let Bungie make it and history will repeat itself, give it to someone who cares and it could last for another 10 years. Cheers for the Emblem.
