bro, I wanna spend my time playing the game, with tier 5s I got so many possibilities of combinations that makes me think 10 times before deleting any weapon because WHAT IF it got a good synnergy?? wich leads to, you guess, lack of vault space, beucase we got SO MANY WEAPONS AND ARMOR all the time but I need to take a time to think before delete them
also, tiered armor is a whole mess to keep up with. in fact, tiered system was a terrible mistake.
I know crafted system will not returning, it's just sad how the game's been in such a bad spot from where it was.

At least with crafting, you could still get previous season's weapons. I have a few returning players in my clan who are having the worst time trying to get Mint Retrograde, let alone, a GOOD one. If they had been able to craft it, they'd probably only be at 2 of 4 patterns, because it's a hard drop from Hawthorne for people with bad RNG. Then ofc there's the armor sets. I keep getting asked about how to get Bushido or Smoke Jumper armor, which are also only possible drops from Hawthorne. At that point, it's RNG on top of RNG to get not only the piece they want, but the stats they want. The ONLY armor that's carried over and is still farmable/obtainable since EoF is Aion Adapter/Renewal. There should be an activity that drops last season's weapons/armor to encourage returning players, not slap them in the face saying "you missed out".

2 RepliesI'll always prefer crafting because if bungie decide oh this perk combination is too arbitrarily strong and makes another set better on the same weapon i dont have to kill myself praying to rng i get the combo I want. T5s are just time crafting, which is so backwards. But if the tier system is here to stay, that's fine. Im just sick of seeing them reinvent the wheel every expansion.
-
1 ReplyVault space is still a major issue. I've been saying for years a simple space increase doesn't solve the problem. And it makes it even worse when Bungie keeps updating old weapon perks. But I feel your pain. I finally got to a point that I was tired of checking 5-6 tier 5 drops after each activity to see if I should keep. I just keep a pve roll and pvp roll and then I just mass delete activity drops without even looking at them. Is this really the game everyone wanted?
-
3 RepliesI liked crafting. But I also do like tier 5s, yes it's choosing between the best of the best rolls but you get guaranteed multiperk God rolls. Vault space was and will remain an issue. What if Bungie had made this GG's class items' ability to simulate every armour set type permanent? How many vault spaces could be saved and what motivation would players have had to farm out their class items? Take care!
-
I liked weapon crafting.
-
Tiered loot was a big mistake imo. Should’ve just kept the system we had, because it wasn’t that flawed if at all
-
I for sure prefer crafting, grinding for red boarders took a bit of time but atleast I enjoyed it, I get my roll I want with t5 pretty fast and I’m done
-
I miss crafting. The red boarders gave something to chase, especially if it was good, and then you didnt need to grind and pray to the deities for a god roll. You could just make it.
-
6 RepliesTiered weapons are neat but it is WAY too easy to get one or two good weapons and the rest are just resource fodder. Then you're done. Tier 5 weapons should have been hard to get. I do like the idea of crafting weapons but most of the perks are Meh.
-
What would be great is if we could craft our Tier 5 weapons and get the triple column perks we want
-
Edited by Maddmunkey: 3/30/2026 9:49:38 PMI was super confused when they killed crafting. I thought it was just really ramping up and I finally found the paths to red borders then poof. No more seasonal crafting. Especially miss crafting when I'm really trying to target specific outcomes in build crafting. Now you cant play like that.

Eventually it's the same shite. The only thing different is the cosmetic appearance.

bro, I wanna spend my time playing the game, with tier 5s I got so many possibilities of combinations that makes me think 10 times before deleting any weapon because WHAT IF it got a good synnergy?? wich leads to, you guess, lack of vault space, beucase we got SO MANY WEAPONS AND ARMOR all the time but I need to take a time to think before delete them also, tiered armor is a whole mess to keep up with. in fact, tiered system was a terrible mistake. I know crafted system will not returning, it's just sad how the game's been in such a bad spot from where it was.
Takes less time to get the roll you want on a tier 5 compared to getting red borders. They’re also just inherit stronger. Perk synergies are very easy to spot by just reading the perks. What loot is good in this game has been solved for nearly a decade with minor changes every couple of years. Tiered armor took the rng out of stat distributions. You aren’t making an argument for the op armor system being easier to keep up with. It has hidden rules over what stats you could get with much more rng. You’re going to be able to craft tier 5 raid weapons in June.
-
I maintain that crafting should have been expanded upon rather than abandoned completely. Random rolls are a feature that should have been left in D1. Random elements and maybe even random stats should have been the only rng, with everything else being customizable.
-
Crafted weapons was good but implemented poorly. The crafting made everything irrelevant until they added the ability to enhance rng drops. The ability to enhance was the best period for weapons imo but it was short lived to make way for tier 1 to 4 (blue) and tier 5 (adept) garbage we have now. The crafting should have been the aspirational endgame with more customization but punishing rng. It just can’t be done this way because of the constant weapon tuning, the meta shifting, and the pointless strive for balance.

Crafting was ok when it was for seasonal weapons or reprised weapons only. Raids and dungeons should have always been random rolls. Tiered loot is straight trash. It never fixed the issue that it was trying to resolve, which was people holding onto old gear. Which now is people hoarding not only new gear but also tiered loot. Honestly though, and I know this feels a bit conspiratorial, it feels like tiered loot was always meant to be temporary. Why? Cause a tiered loot system seems to fit the confines of an extraction shooter more than it does into destiny. Now for loot tiers we have common, uncommon, rare, legendary (old system), legendary tier one, legendary tier two, legendary tier three, legendary tier four, legendary tier five, and exotics. It's just overstretched. If I had a chance to fix it, I would just remove the tiered system, bring back adepts (which are way better than tiered anyway) keep crafting for seasonal/reprised weapons and for any future raids or dungeons, keep it as random rolls only. It is however, never going to be removed since bungo will look at complaints around portal/tiered loot and plug thejr ears whilst excreting the old saying of "Lalalala I can't hear you"

Edited by TwigTwig: 3/29/2026 7:43:36 PMCrafting was terrible. Every gun was worthless without a red border. I like the element of RNG to gun drops, not everyone copying youtubers to build the same guns. Was basically D2Y1.
-
3 RepliesI hated crafted weapons. Every weapon was worthless unless it was a red border and then after your red borders were complete, every other drop was worthless again. 5 red borders was only thing ever wanted or needed. Tiers are not the answer but crafting was bad.
-
1 ReplyEdited by Magiscene: 3/29/2026 2:51:38 PMCorrect me if I’m wrong but people were complaining about crafting because people were chasing a red border over the god roll and it made the loot chase predictable. If I’m not mistaken the tiered system pretty much has the same issues. T5s are the only thing people want since they’re the best of the best which makes other loot not T5s auto deletes. Which is basically the same issue as chasing a red border and enhancing the final perk rows which made all other loot worthless just like t5s do now. Then for crafting making the loot chase predictable I’d argue t5s have the same issue since they have 3 perks in cols 3 and 4 which basically makes getting that one desirable roll a lot easier. Most of my rolls i have kept I got within the first few runs of a farm. Sure you could chase that god god roll with multiple good perk combos but most players really don’t care for those kinds of rolls. That’s I personally prefer crafting over t5s. Plus the free vault space with crafting was nice.

The RNG on the tiering system is the joke. RNG on perk columns, RNG if the weapon has an op origin trait or not. On armor Rng for stat distribution despite targeting armor types. All that to farm for multiple set bonus combos. That was the intention of course. But crafting or more deterministic loot would go far towards allowing the game to shine on its own.

2 RepliesI heard someone say the problem with Tiered loot is that it just creates 4 new classes of Blues... Basically, if it aint Tier 5, it just gets insta-deleted as if it were a Blue/Rare weapon. Personally, I still use old crafted weapons on ALL my builds. The only new weapon I always have is Mint Retrograde... and sometimes Motif.
-
2 RepliesI refuse to use tier 5 weapons because my crafted ones are better
-
First off your title is wrong. Crafting did not fix or solve any core game mechanic. Therefore; crafting is NOT better, just different. Yes the whole tier system is just as broken if not more broken than the old system. Can't fix it until the underlying problems are addressed. Bungie has seen multiple posts about what is wrong, they ignored every one. Bungie is not fixing anything in the game anymore. It will fade away into nonexistence eventually.

7 RepliesEdited by Griever: 3/29/2026 4:11:45 AMThe tiered system is probably the closest to a solution to the 2 "problems" crafting created: people not playing activities for more than just red borders, and because it "removed the satisfaction of obtaining a random weapon". The first is kind of true, but the second is pure nonsense from people who clearly never played their own game because no one is ever satisfied with random weapons. The weapon either drops with unusable stats or trash perks, why would anyone use it? If they want players to be satisfied, then our time needs to feel respected and EVERY WEAPON NEEDS TO HAVE COMPARABLE VALUE, including exotics with few to no exceptions, both in stats and perks. So: * all 720 smgs for example should have 60-70 aim assist to match Barrow Dyad * Sunshot (definitely) should have 80-90 AA to match what 150 hand cannons are supposed to have * Graviton Spike (especially after losing like 80% of it's lethality) should get at least +10-15 to all it's stats and lose the 2 extra zoom it has, maybe also adjust the sights * All 600 ARs should have 90-100 AA to match Hard Light * All 150 scouts should have 60-90 AA toatch Jade Rabbit or Skyburner's * Touch of Malice should have it's AA increased from 40 to- I think 260s on the low end have 56 and 75 AA on the high end? So 16-35 more aim assist * Ace should get +20 stability, handling, and reload and +5 AA to keep up with what you'll typically see on 140s in pvp * Thorn should get it's catalyst nerfs reverted and an additional +10-15 range and stability for the same reason I could go on. And they'd all need to have perks/ combinations that are neither pointless like Keep Away on a scout rifle, contradictory like Hip Fire Grip and Threat Detector on any med-long ranged weapon (especially snipers), or combinations that work against each other like To The Pain and Harmony. This is the only way.
