I have a combined total of maybe 20 hours playing Destiny. Never got into either game. I was very excited for Marathon and played a bit of the server slam on my PC. Went to play some on my Playstation yesterday and found out my steam account is linked to an older PSN account that I don't use anymore. I still have access to it, but I don't want to switch accounts every time I want to play one game.
Apparently unlinking is completely impossible with no exceptions. What a ridiculous policy, and with no customer support to boot. I understand it has something to do with people doing shady stuff in Destiny 2, but I didn't even play that game.
I will not buy this game on either platform if I cant have a clean cross-save. I'm willing to provide any and all documentation that this is a legitimate case of wanting to unlink and relink accounts. What a shame.

Hi there. The policy change to account unlinking back in March 2025 applies to all Bungie titles. Excluding Twitch, account linking is permanent and there are unfortunately no workarounds to swap or remove links. You can either cross save your Steam account with the older PS account or don't use Cross Save.
Linked platform accounts can not be removed or unlinked from Bungie.net Profiles. Bungie will not remove platform accounts linked to Bungie.net Profiles under any circumstances.
More information on how Cross Save works can be found in the Marathon Cross Save Guide in the Help Center.
