Following another serene Trials session on the weekend, I was the unfortunate recipient of a string of vile messages (I have uploaded an Xbox screenshot). While I used the in-game reporting, the player is still playing and no doubt spewing their bile on other players. This isn't a post about how toxic players can be; it is more about whether Bungie takes these issues seriously, as there is no way I have found where you can report in-game text abuse. I have uploaded an Xbox screenshot of the in-game text in the hope that, if someone from Bungie reads this, they can respond with how to best report such incidents.

Not enough to process there game so even the smallest content has been delayed and you’re worrying about the in game report situation due to hate speech. F I miss the 90’s where people just had character and thick skin. Like stop being like this and get some back bone. Or I don’t know get a nose ring and a pronouns

you people are soft, if that hurt your feelings my Gym playlist would have crying in a corner
-
2026 and people are still crying about this stuff? Block them and move on, or simply leave the game/turn your screen off. Its not that deep

2 RepliesI am an Xbox user, and I can confirm that it is indeed a perculating cesspool of hatred, denizened by miserable wretches from the underworld, disguised as human beings, who don't know how to enjoy video games, or able to have fun I used to use my real name for my gamer ID, not anymore I persevere never the less in spite of them, they no longer pester me, now that I have improved

you should be able to type /report [Bungie Name] for it to bring up the report prompt. Otherwise, see this article - https://help.bungie.net/hc/en-us/articles/360049497451-Report-Suspected-Cheating-and-Poor-Behavior

Did you report them through XBox?

Reporting gives exact time and instance ID of the offense and the instance text chat logs. Your screenshot is not necessary. Assuming you reported in-game you have done all there is to do. Lucky for you it was text chat. Bungie is unable to monitor in-game voice chat and cannot take action based on those reports. Makes one wonder why the option is even there.

Just words …why do you read them ? Also you can mute messages . You are solely in control of yourself so focus on resilience.
-
The online veil of anonymity has really done a number on human decency. Sorry you had to deal with that kind of bigotry.
-
4 RepliesYou have the ability to stop it yourself in privacy settings or give it right back. No Bungie necessary. Just sayin man

2 RepliesWdym inabililty to report? You reported them and it will take a while since it's not instant or automated and even on xbox his creative spelling would just have the bot tell you that nothing bad had been said and no ban could be issued. They need to be really dumb to be auto banned by xbox. Just block / mute them if it bothers you. Also, I saw the screenshot earlier and if you want to retaliate you need to go to team chat - you were typing in fireteam chat. That only works if you have people playing with you. The blueberries can't see that one.

Found the person that’d remind the teacher that they’re due to give out homework for the weekend.

Use the block button and move on.

You can’t name and shame. Report the account, block them and move on. After being blocked they will have no way to message you further.
