They have how many fireteam ops? Have some of the old weps as their focus for the day regardless of mm turned off for it. If players want it badly enough, they'll lfg it.

They're adding a way to obtain older loot besides Hawthorne. Assumption is that it was planned for the Major Update but due to the delay it has been pushed back, they might pull it forward due to the delay but given the silence I wouldn't hold my breath for it.
