Account linking issue
Hello,
Not sure if this is the right forum, but I recently bought marathon, and I have a bungie.net account since 2010 that has my xbox account linked to it. when I tried to link my steam, it said, "Already linked to other game platform accounts." My steam is apparently tied to another account I made in 2017, which I assumed had something to do with the blizzard to steam account transfer. I want to merge my steam to my 2010 account. Is this possible? I know bungie said its not possible to do it after March 25 but I wanted to be sure.
I tried searching up answers, and the forum said if I delete my account, the licenses on that account will be revoked. so I'm not sure if this will remove my marathon key.

1 ReplyHey there, unfortunately as of March 2025 there's no way to unlink platform accounts from a Bungie Account, meaning the old Steam account is stuck on the old Bungie Account. There's nothing useful that will happen from deleting accounts; if you mean deleting a Bungie Account this (which is only possible through a privacy request for those in the EU or the US state of California) is more of an account anonymisation, rather than a true deletion. It also comes with a platform account ban (preventing that account from being linked to anything else) as you're effectively terminating your agreement with Bungie in regards to managing you personally identifiable data.

Hi there, Thanks for reaching out. The marked answer by EckyThump is correct. Due to mandatory security policy, Bungie is not able to remove connected platform accounts from Bungie.net profiles under any circumstances.

When they disabled the ability to unlink accounts, that also closed off the ability to move accounts between Bungie profiles. The Steam is permanently bound to the Bungie profile its currently linked to. You won't be able to have both the Xbox and Steam on the same Bungie profile due to that.
