URGENT Please help me contact Bungie

Hello everyone. Bit of a long read here but I need some serious help. Bungie employees please read the entire thing as this information could seriously help players and save them from harm. I've been a user since 2016 and had my account stolen back around march/April of 2025. My steam was hacked, and was apart of a large data leak in my area. I have already been through all necessary legal processes and fought a long battle to get my information back accross dozens of platforms. Unfortunately after everything, I came up short being able to secure my Bungie account due to a loophole in cross save. To sum up an extremely long story, my information was leaked online due to a data leak in my local area. That information was bought by a KNOWN CHEATER CLAN called "Feral". The user "chris" messaged me on discord the day I was hacked and blackmailed me over $500 to receive my account back. I understand this already sounds ridiculous as a concept, but I assure you its real. I have over 100+ screenshots and documents of this event. I knew I had never done anything wrong with my information before, such as share it, pay for recovery services or anything like that. I also had all security measures that bungie recommends to prevent account theft. Basically, i upheld my end of propper security. So I immediately filed a police report and contacted a lawyer for stolen property/identity. This is why I am making a post nearly a year later as this has been a very long legal process and did not wish to muddy the waters during the legal process. My steam account was not the only thing stolen, social media accounts and other forms of property were involved. Anyways, im making this post to hopefully contact bungie about possibly unbanning my account as well as inform players. I've read every thread, forum and comment about situations like this so I am aware of their policies. Usually bungie cannot undue a ban even if it wasnt the true account owner who got the account banned. I'm hoping with my mountains of evidence, including legal documents, screenshots, videos and direct proof of the hackers stating they have the ability to ban accounts themselves...that i can make progress forward with bungie. See, I know for a fact these players/clan are still out there unbanned themselves despite my mass reporting and even pursued some of these individuals legally. With that being said, I have video evidence of them banning me THEMSELVES the day it happened. To any bungie employees reading this, my testimony/evidence is ready to go anytime and im willing to pursue any necessary paths to remedy this event. Or even just to get the message to the security team at minimum. As a warning to all players, the "loophole" in crossplay that allowed this individual to "steal" my account is the following. Cross-platform accounts share characters from the main account, while any linked platforms can use those characters. My personal account originated from my Xbox, later linked to my own psn and steam account. I have never owned an epic account so I never linked one, leaving an open slot in my account. When my data was leaked, this "chris" user contacted me via discord (will provide screenshots if bungie request) and informed me that he had "stolen" my account by buying it from a Russian website and blackmailed me $$$ to return it. No im not joking, it doesn't get anymore stereotypical than this. He originally stole my steam login, and that's how he obtained access to my BUNGIE account. From there, he then linked his own epic games account. Essentially linking a parasite to my account. On his epic account, he used cheats with my characters to play pvp. Here's the loophole. Now remember this was back before bungie removed the ability to unlink accounts, so I believe this loophole may now be even harder to combat. Back in the day, the only way to deactivate cross save or unlink an account was to sign into it yourself. But remember, this individual stole my account and linked his own. So I had no ability to unlink or deactivate. This essentially let's anyone who can hack your account to permanently own your account even if you manage to log back in. Even worse, I contacted epic games (the same logic applies to Microsoft and psn) and they told me that bungie is the only company with the power to unlink an account. However, bungie does not allow you to unlink an account if you don't have the login info. Again, this loophole allows a hacker to slip in and never be punished. As it seems not even the platform owners have the power to kick them out. My warning and solution is to immediately make an account on all platforms and link it to your bungie accounts. The only reason this happened was because he was able to slip in an account I didn't have access to. Remember he stole my steam but I was able to recover that, it being mine and all. But the epic account is his. So I can't even try to get into that account. By having your own accounts linked, even if you don't use them, this can help prevent the events that have happened to me. Please, anyone at Bungie follow up with me on this. It's been extremely stressful to endure, and I've suffered immensely financially. I know this doesn't contribute to anything but, this account of mine was started in 2016. I'm 22 years old now. Over 5000 hours and many, many memories now gone forever. Please Bungie, help me find a fix for this issue. Whether it be a fix for me, or at minimum a fix for the community. This can still happen to anyone. I know there are people who care about our safety. Thank you.

  • You sound like this is something new around here, we see this exact post ( well maybe a little smaller) at least once a week, more often when people were actually playing this game. Honestly, this is the best thing that could have happened to you, you broke free , you are out!! No need to play this crack of a game, move on to much better games out there with developers and companies that actually care about their communities.

They do not conduct, listen to, or follow up on appeal/unban requests done on the forums. Further, even if the ban appeal does get accepted, as you should already know Bungie will not unlink the account - so they will maintain access. Bungie have shown no interest in changing the system to allow unlinking without authentication and as you have likely seen the onus is entirely on the user to keep their account secure at all times. You can try going down the legal route to have something like a court or if an enforcement agency feels it falls under GDPR compel Bungie to unlink the account, but as a matter of policy they will not do it based on requests - so legal is your only way there.
