Destiny 2 is over
Thank you for the update, much appreciated - genuinely.
But the lack of content laid out until June shows the game is no longer a priority. Marathon and then at best, potentially a Destiny 3 are where the studio is at.
The insider source stating that the delay to the roadmap isn’t because we are adding more to the roadmap is massive.
What it tells me is the studio are pumping all resources to marathon probably because if it fails then Bungie collapses. They do want destiny players to go to marathon, that much is obvious - I won’t be.
A delay like this use to mean more frequent events like Iron Banner etc and yet that isn’t coming until April. They would give us some ‘easy wins’ to tie us over. We got nothing in Feb and basically nothing in March and I do feel that’s all because of Marathon.
I don’t hate this game, I still enjoy playing. But it’s hard when you know that the game does now have a countdown on it.
UPDATE: the TWID having no additional info from yesterday’s tweet further enforces my belief that this game is now an afterthought.

1 ReplyWe need marathon to succeed if we want a d3. I am definitely in favor of a d3, d2 isn't going to get back up. The only players coming into d2 are people who used to play so I don't see a reason of developing it.

They killed D2 and are taking a huge gamble by putting all their eggs in one basket. And if Marathon fails Bungie is Done. I hope Marathon fails... Bungie deserves the L for -blam!- up D2.

If they can't see why Destiny players feel betrayed then they are more out of touch than we realized. Even if Marathon was the last game on the planet, i wont play it out of spite. you did this Bungie now deal with it.

The first triple digit upvoted/liked post in a long, long time. I remember when there were multiple 4 digit posts on these forums. It seems that Bungie’s passion for their “goose that laid the golden eggs”, has waned so much, that their apathy for their brilliant game/ franchise has rubbed off on the D2 community. It seems like Bungie was the ultimate Destiny killer after all.

4 RepliesDestiny was pretty much over when they dropped Edge of Fate on us with this already proven failure "the Portal" and the total armour rework. But instead of turning to the player base to ask why we weren't happy, they basically said, " this is how it is and if you're not happy, you know what you can do". And many players obliged. They think Marathon will become the new Destiny, attracting a huge player base that'll stay faithful for another 10 years. It's just going to end in tears.

Marathon will fail and then Bungo will understand that all that Money and resources would have been better spent on D2 or even starting on a D3. -
1 ReplyPeople been talking about Destiny 3 for many years now with zero evidence of it, and ignoring the evidence that Bungie has no motivation to even work on the game that they already have. I really think Marathon is their next delusional cash cow, to avoid the reality that game studios actually have to engage with their community, accept feedback, release good, big, content, and not lie constantly. Bungie hasn't showed interest in starting a brand new game from scratch for Destiny at all. If they did, then why wouldn't they also give effort to the DLCs that cost more than a new game, for the annual pass each year? Why give something your all, when people are paying you more to give it your least?

1 ReplySadly Bungie performed seppuku on itself for no apparent reason, unless Marathon was the reason and they truly thought that the Destiny community would become the new Marathon community. My own personal opinion, I would not want to play an extraction style shooter unless I was a very good to elite player which I am not.

15 Repliesnot sure about what you wanna share with: its over i have a 12 hour working day and days in RL so i really cant even finish a ton of things destiny 2 brought me the last 2 years even if i wanted, i was not able to finish everything i welcome the delay, so i have a chance to finish a ton of unfinish things in destiny2 maybe whiners try a job, and several more responsability in real life instead of living in the illusions of the internet ? :o)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

5 RepliesYea I refuse to play marathon out of spite because of them delaying shadow and order for it. The better thing would be to increase player trust and intrigue by showing they could deliver shadow and order and marathon THEN I would have considered buying marathon to support them while enjoying destiny and what renegades brought to the game and my playtime. I enjoy it alot actually but shady business practices like what they're doing with marathon and intentionally spiting destiny players is no good way to get me to have any interest in marathon

YUP! I agree. Nothing new major coming our way for months! IB in April, but that is PVP and I refuse to play bungie PVP. That pantheon thing for elite players , I know I can't do any of taht stuff on the difficulty they will require. Could not do it the last time so no reason to even try this time! No reason to even log in, nothing even weekly worth getting in game. Solutions, you say, enough complaining, already! OK - Introduce a weekly mission, it does not have to be long, or hard, but it gets players in the game. - Incentivize lawless frontier or advancing levels with the syndicates. Some special reward to keep players in the game. - create events for ALL players, not this run a dungeon in 20 minutes crap, or use only swords glaives and bows, idiotic crap. Something ALL players can complete for a reward. - give Hawthorne viable gear so it is worth going to her and picking the stuff up. There are a million things they could do but are not doing. Players have nothing but time to kill in others games while waiting for bungie to get their act together!
