This post is coming from a place of frustration, not malice.
Many long-time players feel that Destiny 2 — and by extension the entire franchise — is being slowly sacrificed without a clear vision for its future. What we are experiencing is not a temporary dip or a content lull, but a prolonged erosion of core systems that once gave the game purpose.
PvP is effectively dead.
No meaningful playlist updates
No new maps
No long-term PvP goals
No reason to grind or improve
Anti-cheat is not doing its job.
Cheating is openly present, matches feel compromised, and fair players are the ones punished by frustration and distrust.
Ban appeals are unacceptable.
Legitimate appeals can take over a month — sometimes longer — leaving players locked out with no transparency, no communication, and no accountability.
There is no direction.
No grind worth committing to.
No goals worth chasing.
No sense that player time is respected.
What makes this worse is the feeling that player feedback no longer matters. Many of us have tried: forum posts, feedback threads, constructive criticism. The silence is louder than any announcement.
This game is not dying because players don’t care — it’s dying because the people who care feel unheard.
Destiny doesn’t need marketing spin.
It doesn’t need vague promises.
It needs a fundamental course correction, clear priorities, and visible commitment to the systems that once made it great.
If nothing changes, what we are witnessing isn’t a dramatic collapse — it’s a slow, tragic fade that players can’t stop on their own.
We are still here.
We are still speaking.
But Bungie needs to listen — now, not later.

4 RepliesAnd you doughnuts still play the game

1 ReplyEdited by l Xemnas: 2/17/2026 8:37:50 PMWe here at bungie do not admit our failures. We double and triple down on them while gaslighting the players.

2 RepliesIt is a sad end… they could at least set foot on the path to recovery by removing the portal
-
4 RepliesI stopped playing Edge of Fate at step 25 of 31. Stopped playing Renegades at Territory Wars step 11 of 17, didn't care for the whole syndicate thing. Can't do much of anything outside the portal as it doesn't drop anything but trash. All I've done is play solo Caldera until I can do it in my sleep and just started to see drops at 421. Bungie is doubling down on the Portal and intent on killing all destinations on the map outside the Portal. No more exploration, public events, bounties, regional chests or any diverse gameplay that adds to the feel of an expensive yet cohesive universe where guardians wander at large.

4 RepliesThe game is dead because of the changes . Destiny 2 was amazing but then they came up with beyond light and sunsetted 80% of the game but eventually that was fine cause destiny 2 was still destiny 2 with some improvements here and there .. Aaaaaaaand then they came up with the portal , tier loot wich basicly means the loot that you have been farming for , for over decade is now useless and you have to aquire a completely new set for every single build and the legendary weapons wich is basicly playing a new game but still in the same game that you have been playing for over a decade a that makes sense .. And instead of having a destiny 3 , 4 and even a 5 we don't even have a destiny 2 , all we have now is wonkey donkey stone age destiny 1 or 2026 portal star wars destiny 2 .

Oh yeah bud? 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️🤡

1 ReplyB/C most of your focus is around PVP; it's been clear they haven't had
There is no direction. No grind worth committing to. No goals worth chasing. No sense that player time is respected.
In a very, very long time. It's not recent. All bungie does is give vague directions on what they want to see happen and it takes them YEARS to make actual adjustments. And if they do put resources towards something PVP related; rarely is it with the PVP players in mind (tanks vs brigs lol), making lighthouse no longer worth something etc.

My reason to play was to get better with a niche exotic no one saw used in ANY competitive play. Then Bungie went and fundamentally changed its behavior beyond recognition. RIP KHEPRIS HORN

Most unfortunate 😎

Jet Set WillyIt’s all going concording to plan 😂🤣 - 3/6/2026 1:06:39 AM
It’s been slowly abandoned over the past couple of years as focus on Marathon was increased. A long, slow decline to what we have now. 🙁 -
Yep so time to move on !
-
2 RepliesI hate to say it but the only way destiny will be saved is if bungie gets a huge amount of money so they can hire people. If marathon does flop then maybe they will transition the marathon team to Destiny then we can get more content again.
-
2 RepliesInteresting that you have not mentioned the lack of good story, or missions, a lot of people don't seem to be interested in that, and then wonder why they are displeased, it's pretty much the corner stone of what makes a good video game But again, I'm a niche human 😅

Arc Raiders is so much fun! Try it!

Interesting enough I got an email from Bungie asking if I want to come to the head quarters for a 2-hour panel on Destiny about 3 weeks ago. I filled out the survey they asked me to do and picked a time I could come in. Never heard back from them I think its because I'm 71 and they are looking for younger players to talk too. :( I live in the Seattle area so I assume they were selecting players that are in the area and willing to come in , they were offering a $200 amazon card.

Destiny 2 is Ric Flair, had the chance for a perfect ending but ruined it by carrying on. I also firmly believe any passion for the game from the actual Devs is long gone, which is understandable if they've been stuck with Destiny for 10+ years.
-
Maybe a touch of malice.
-
They never respected our time. They just wanted our money. They deserve to be the shell of a company they once were.
-
It's was a month since last time I logged in... and i don't have any plans to comeback, playing in Destiny 2 today is meaningless. Especially after last PlayStation's State of Play and few remakes of old games come out in last couple of months. I'm gonna spend my time on something else until autumn arrives.

4 RepliesBungie have form……they gave up what for Halo, they gave up Halo for Destiny, they gave up Destiny for Marathon. They’ve moved on, maybe we should too?
-
1 ReplyThis agenda already exists since the reduction of content starting with "Beyond Light." They always looked at Destiny 2 from a straight economic angle. But those incubation projects (they worked on them at the same time as Beyond Light) didn't work; nothing did. And today, they are where they are. Today, the game's an empty shell, and if they carry on like that, Marathon will be the same. Bungie was always ready to make sacrifices to carry on, but in the end they just destroyed themselves with it.
-
3 RepliesAt this point, Bungie should just pull the plug. Don't bother with new content. Simply unvault the old content people already PAID for and put the game in Age of Triumph mode. I'd rather have the chance to replay Red War and Forsaken than the half 🍑 efforts they're slowly rolling out.
-
Slowly ?! Bungie have abandoned d2 and it’s shows . PvP is going out like gambit and not a word . Marathon is bungies new baby …wild so many haven’t caught on yet ?!
-
It feels exactly like CoD 5, when MW2 came out 🤣

PvP is in the worst state I have ever seen in my life. Like how are guys with not hundreds but thousands of flawless tickets being put on the same team against people like me who have less than 10. PvP sucks. Matchmaking is horrible. The game is dead. There are no updates. They think Marathon is worth investing into and they can’t even make a good PvP mode in a PvE game.
