Really ? what is it with you and removing bounties ?
Why does everything outside of portal have to be worthless ?
Bounties gave you that extra to do when exploring planets, extra exp and had you use different weapons.
Not to mention how good it would be for the new players that might join. It would help them level up and get them to interact more with the game.
I used to go there to do the bounties for the easy xp. Whilst doing so i got to help new lights with completing public events and also killing high value targets.
The new light campaign was already baren, terrible and extremely unhelpful to understand how the game works. Now with bounties removed, there is even less for them to do.

They don't want us going back to the older destinations. Playing with random people and just screwing around anywhere but the portal is not the bungie way anymore.
-
All I do is bounties in this game. I hate loosing them.
-
Bungie is too deep with their portal, so they’re like quadrupling down on their failure of an idea that they have to ruin other core aspects of the game lol.

3 RepliesSeems to be part of their quest to make you play every day if you wanna level any sort of pass. Bounties and weekly challenges were a great catch up for people who may not have been able to play constantly, but now it's do everything or you ain't levelling -blam!-. It's the same with the 'events' where you have to do every daily challenge, plus re-rolls to get max rank on the event pass.
-
4 RepliesThey're trying to get to that stage that was actually scrapped 10 years ago, as was exposed in that recent video that went viral. Just think of all the work that they WOULDN'T have to do if the Director was removed completely. No planets to bother with, no bounties to keep churning out (so keeping rewards and XP to be available from the Portal only), and less actual content to cause the bugs and technical problems that are plaguing the game on a biblical scale. They want the "streamlined" look, which basically means a souless block of options in the form of a chess board, which when clicked will take you to a specific event. Exploring huge planets and farming materials for hours will be confined to the box of memories from the golden era.

6 RepliesI prefer bounties over orders because it makes me bounce planet to planet enjoying each environment. I gave up purchasing more expansions because Bungie made exotic missions a priority to expand the story to finish the expansion even though I have no interest in the exotic weapon. I feel those missions should be challenging and hard to get the weapon but should be a choice to the player if they want to do them. I did not completely quit the game because I enjoy the shooting mechanics and doing bounties but Bungie is really making it hard. I don't want to stop playing completely. I want to have fun. In a relaxing way where I am done with work and life pressures.
-
Just Bungie trying to kill every moderately social part of their MMO. They'd hate for the last guardian standing to know...or care...that they were playing alone.

7 RepliesThis is so unfortunate.. The essence of the game being dismantled..

Edz & Nessus got the same treatment. I assume they'll nix Europa & Moon bountys next. You WILL grind the potty or else.. Jus another of the thousand cuts that's killing player engagement. I went back to D1 the last week & it's been so much fun compared to the convoluted mess that is D2. Remember the told us "play your way" once upon a time? Well, looks like that's done & dusted. -
Haven't you figured it out yet? They dont want us exploring planets, or exploring at all. They intended to sunset the director just after edge of fate. But the community was very unhappy, so they abandoned fully sunsetting it. But its still soft sunset and we'll likely never see an explorable patrolable social space ever again.

Edited by Mark, Scholar of Stars: 1/18/2026 8:09:36 AMAlmost 50% of location bounties are gone. And weekly challenges too. Everything is based now more and more around the Portal. There is no library for weekly challenges anymore. Which gave one freedom of choice and time management. For me, all of this is too binding. I don't want to be part of that -- not with the knowledge of how it was before. That's probably the second reward pass I don't finish. And I finished them for years. I'm done with Bungie and their crazy game development. They destroyed their own game because of their ignorant mismanagement. Right now, there are 9,000 players on Steam. That speaks dramatically for itself. The fun is gone. Edit: How often Bungie tries it the hard way, by forcing his clients into something, but how this works can be seen.

3 RepliesEdited by Wanderer: 1/16/2026 3:17:53 PMNobody at bungie gives a -blam!-. New Players can't even finish new light quest because failsafe doesn't give bounties. It's no surprise every single person on the internet is talking about how bungie is dying. Marathon is guaranteed to fail because it shows bungie just doesn't care at anything but a paycheque.
-
I'll point out that the removal of the bounties actually broke a quest that targets the New Light experience. The quest Anomalous Object requires that the player complete 3 bounties from Failsafe.

3 RepliesYou simply don’t need them. Orders are so easy to complete and having unlimited of them makes it that much better. I’m already season rank 210 which is rank 540 using the old system (currently past rank 100 you get 2 levels every 500,000 xp which is 5 ranks in old system (but currently a bug every 500,000 gives +2 levels because the bright engram gives a level and reaching 500,000 mark gives a level))

4 RepliesCosmodrome, EDZ, and Nessus are not the main focus in any current paid campaign and seems more likely to endure changes and deletions. Our game file is already huge and Destiny 2 is a collection of many expansions. How long can they keep this up with adding more expansions, increasing the file size, and treading on the thin line of sunsetting?
-
Yes. No more Cosmodrome bounties. Now there are everywhere bounties. But you can certainly do them in the Cosmodrome if you want. And you can certainly "help" other players do PEs. Of course they're probably working on their own orders and trying to learn how their characters work. I'm not sure that a max level rank 10 dropping in and kill stealing is something they consider help.
-
Bungie makes bounties "Bounties arent content" Bungie removes bounties "Where are my bounties?" Damned if they do, damned if they dont
-
I mean a lot to f people complained that bounties were not “content” for years…. But we also all know what they’re going for, as in Bungie…

4 RepliesIt's to get rid of bounty hoarding and the big first day xp boost it grants.
-
They removed bounties and replaced them with vanguard orders. Even though they are easy to do in any activity I find that there isn't much variety with them, There is none that say kill this enemy faction, Do lost sectors or public events or patrol/loot chests on this destination. Their all just kill enemies with this weapon or ability, Do a solo, fireteam, pinnicle or pvp op, Capture a zone in pvp and that's about it which I think is boring, I honestly liked doing bounties. In D1 for pvp you can get bounties that reward you with pvp weapons for getting kills in pvp with the same weapon type. Like get 30 kills with a pulse rifle and the bounty would reward you with a pvp pulse rifle. I wish we had bounties like this in D2 for strikes, pvp and gambit.

You were doing bounties to level up? Better off doing the challenges -
28 Replies
Bounties gave you that extra to do when exploring planets, extra exp and had you use different weapons.
That's literally what orders do, & there's no limit to how many you can do in a day.

4 RepliesOnly thing I can think of is they're doing a full system revamp they're detangling the codes spaghetti if they remove all of the old stuff shovel everything into the new system then optimize they can compartmentalize the code make it easier to update and resolve some longstanding problems but the transitional period's going to be a total cluster wishful thinking on my end no guarantee if that's actually a thing though but a man can dream

Well, everybody else years ago wanted bounties gone, now what changed but as for me I would like daily bounties saying you got to use this exotic weapon to complete these bounties.
