Interesting to watch, seems Bungie never learns from their mistakes as they came up with the portal and then scrapped it over 10 years ago as it sucked the life from the game.
The problem with the portal is that it completely killed the world menu, it's killed going to all the different planets, and it's killed exploration. Since EoF and Renegades, most of the planets I have never even visited since those DLC's came out as there is absolutely nothing there worth doing for levelling up or even just farming gear, at 550 they are all very dead worlds to me and the only reason to visit them is nostalgia or just screw about. Even doing the hardest lost sectors you get rewarded with BS level 300 gear, they may as well be greens or blues for as much worth as they are. The portal is useful for quick access to things, but unfortunately it's completely replaced the world tab. Just like Bungie themselves said way back then, the portal sucked all the life out of the game which it has, the only place I ever see random guardians now is in the tower or MM if I feel like playing with others.

Portal would have made d1 better
-
1 of many things they recycled from D1
-
They put it in the game because they couldn't come up with something else or something new.

My problem with the portal is that it could be from any game. It looks like a Microsoft user interface. Completely devoid of individual design. You could slot in any game to that committee approved soulless UI. The director has its own identity. The potty looks like it was designed by a student for his mates website. And then there's the fact they greyed/desaturated the OG director. A lifeless shop window with dead flies has more personality. *This is an opinion -
Hilarious how some people can chastise a streamer for exposing a smoking gun, who probably followed him regularly when he was spewing out the same crap as the rest of the bleating flock.

This really hit me in the feels because it's so true.

I'm not familiar with the leadership at Bungie. Even though I've been playing since year 1 in D1. I just don't care about them, just playing the game. But this is interesting, and makes me ask those of you who follow the names at Bungie. Who has been on the Destiny crew since the first portal idea was scrapped, and who is still there after 10 years? Were they part of making the 1st portal idea in D1, and were butthurt so they are in a position now to push it out in D2??

1 ReplyAre yes the streamer lucky that most top players or bdf fan boys had no problem with until he started to point out things like how un freindly d2 can be to a new lights in memes Portal is fine but what kills the destinations is bungie not updating the loot or giving any reason to go to them ,if public events had a 1 in 5 chance of getting tier 5 armor like techsec ,smoker etc the game world would be more lively but fanboys would prob complain about easy loot when loot doesn't make the player

Another post from a Sheep. Not defending Portal or anything. But is it really hard to think for yourself ? Don't just blindly believe and or nod along to your favorite Streamer/Youtuber. These content creators will say anything for views, including twisting words to change their meanings. Sure that idea might have been scraped in D1, but it is nothing like the D2 version. In D1 it appears to be the only menu, whereas here it is a menu. Also that Portal or Featured list in D1 was going to be there from start, here in came 8 years later.

Nope.
