Farewell old friend, may we meet again.

Hi, and to be honest, bye. I have had a lot of fun in the Destiny universe. But the game doesn't interest me as it once did. A part of is myself, with my first child almost being here, things have certainly have changed a lot. But it is also the game. After the light and darkness saga finished then story felt done and the last two "expansions" are not changing that for me. Which is fine. Also me going more handheld for my gaming needs isn't helping Destiny's case. I am loving my Steam Deck and gaming on lInux as a whole. The fact that I couldn't play Destiny on my Steam Deck made investing into the game feel pointless, how weird that might sound. Another thing is the gameplay is getting stale for me. I played the final campaign and it felt like a "try this filler content" thing. It was nothing like the Witch Queen campaign which I absolutely adored. I will be uninstalling Destiny now. I don't think Destiny 2 will recover for me. The whole gameplay feels designed by Commission to me nowadays with a lack of focus. Maybe I am expecting too much. But the story also feels small, repetitive and generic now and specifically that is turning me away from the game. In any case it's time for me to step away. It feels like a "farewell" and I won't say I'll never return to the Destiny universe (never is a very long time). It has been a journey these 10 years.

  • I’m starting to feel the same, but probably for different reasons. 1. The inability to acquire old gear, which actively impacts your gameplay, is one of the worst development decisions I’ve ever seen continuously made by a single studio. It completely breaks the ability to introduce new players to the game. FOMO cosmetics? That’s fair. FOMO equipment, never! 2. The lack of attention to the player experience. The dawning is a fantastic example. If you played the game, you had to make hundreds of cookies. And they made you do every single one individually. Deliver them individually. It took forever. You said you wanted a fast game, fast for us or just fast for you? The fact that I couldn’t craft more than one cookie at a time is exactly the type of common sense oversight we see regularly nowadays. 3. Strikes used to be fun and they’ve just been getting progressively more annoying. Instead of adding new content, they just revisit old content and make it worse. The inverted spire never needed to be redone, and I absolutely hate the new version. And banes… Screebers and mini screebs? Are you freaking kidding me? 4. LFG. Remember custom titles? I thought when they introduced the new fireteam finder, it would be better. Boy was I in for a surprise! Fireteam finder is a disaster. It has a few perks, but it was a huge step backwards. And half the time it doesn’t even work when it tries to summon your team. Seriously, what idiot thought it was a good idea to remove custom titles? How else am I supposed to tell people they have to be guardian rank 12?! (Hehe a jokester) 5. The sandbox. I have actually really enjoyed the Praxic blade. But it feels like the only viable weapon in the game. If the thought from that is to Nerf it, you should be slapped. Primary ammo weapons feel like literal dog crap. Bungie’s war on ammo capacity sucked the fun out of rocket sidearms, and rocket pulse rifles, except when I need it for DPS. Where is the DPS diversity? Raiding as a hunter sucks btw. Oh, you buffed celestial nighthawk? That’s great. I don’t want to use that. That’s my rant. Some of it fact, some of it opinion. Ultimately, I loved this game. But it has rusted and corroded in ways none of us could’ve predicted. Gg.
