Hello,
I am posting here because standard support responses have not addressed the actual issue I am facing.
My Steam account was compromised in July. As a direct result of this breach, a third party accessed my Bungie account and, during that unauthorized access, linked their own Epic Games account to my Bungie profile without my consent.
In December, I fully recovered and secured my Steam account (Steam Guard enabled, password changed, full security measures applied). I continued playing Destiny 2 normally until I recently noticed unauthorized activity on my account, including PvP matches that I never play.
After investigating, I identified that an unknown Epic Games account is still linked to my Bungie profile. This account does not belong to me and provides ongoing access to my characters, progression, and items.
Important points:
I am the legitimate owner of the Bungie account and all legitimate linked platforms.
All my legitimate accounts (Steam, Xbox, Blizzard/Battle.net, Twitch) use the same identity or clear variations of it (BaptMan / Baptman63).
The linked Epic Games account uses a completely unrelated name and was linked during the confirmed compromise.
I can provide extensive proof of ownership, including long-term purchase history (Steam and Blizzard dating back to 2017).
Epic Games has confirmed they cannot resolve this, as platform linking is managed on Bungie’s side.
Support responses so far have stated that Bungie cannot remove linked platform accounts “under any circumstances” and redirect me back to platform support. This creates a dead-end where:
An unauthorized platform account remains linked
Active access to my Bungie profile still exists
My account is permanently exposed to griefing, deletion, or loss of progression
This is not a standard Cross Save request, name change request, or convenience issue.
This is an active security issue involving an unauthorized third-party account.
Bungie’s response to my support request states that “due to mandatory security policy,” they are unable to remove connected platform accounts under any circumstances and that account security is the player’s responsibility. When I explicitly requested a clear, written confirmation that they are refusing to act on my security issue, they did not provide one and instead marked my request as resolved.
As a result, my Bungie account remains exposed to a serious security risk, including potential deletion of items, characters, or progression.
While I acknowledge that my Steam account was vulnerable in July, leading to a past compromise, it has since been fully secured. The ongoing risk on my Bungie account exists because the unauthorized Epic Games account was linked during that breach. Since removing a linked platform normally requires logging into the account, which I cannot do because it is not mine
I am effectively blocked, and my Bungie account remains exposed to unauthorized access that Bungie refuses to examine, despite the numerous and documented proofs I have provided.
I am posting here in the hope that this can be reviewed or escalated properly, as current policy-based responses do not resolve the ongoing security risk.
Thank you to anyone from Bungie or the community who can help push this toward an actual resolution.

4 RepliesHi there, Due to mandatory security policy, Bungie is not able to remove connected platform accounts from Bungie.net profiles under any circumstances. If your account has been compromised, we are unable to assist you, and you will need to contact your platform's support. Account security is up to each player, and we encourage players to secure their game accounts by following our Account Security Guide so that they don’t have a chance to be compromised.
