Portal was added to help you to get into the activity that you wanted quicker. This would be fine if that was the only thing it did. Firstly is it really faster ? Not really, before you had the 3 core activities at the top in the world map. Easy to find, fast enough to choose your activity. Plus you do have Gambit as a choice, which is completely absent in the Portal page. So if you want to play it you will have to go to the world map and select it. And yes there are still people who play it. What makes the old way faster is that 2 button presses was all that was needed to start. Now there is a bunch of different activities in the Fireteam ops. All with different rewards. So instead of just pressing to launch a Strike, i now have to sit and look at all the different activities and see which one gives me the best reward(s). Oh wait, only the top 3 ones have match making on, So i either play a 3 man activity by myself or i chose an activity with match making on and hope that one of the random rewards is the one i need. I mean seriously, there are 27 different Fireteam activities, and only 3 of them has matchmaking on at a time. Why ? The quick play option only goes up to Master, so it is completely useless once you passed it. They changed it for Master to Normal, even though the power is 300 which is Master. So not sure why the change was needed. Why if it was just there to get you into an activity faster, is there no Strike or Nightfall playlist ? Why is some strikes mixed in with some past content ? why is the Nightfalls in a different tab than the rest of the Strikes ? So not only is it not faster, it doesn't feature all of the core activities and it doesn't even have matchmaking on all of them. Sure i might have gotten a Strike that i didn't like, but at least it had matchmaking on and it was faster to load into it. Now if the Portal was just added to speed things up, then why did it make everything else obsolete ? Why doesn't any of the new weapons and armor drop from the original core activity ? why can't we get different tiered items from them ? The biggest question of them all, is how is there a solo playlist ? this was never a thing nor did some of those activities exist. So how is it quicker if it wasn't there to begin with ? What the Portal page should have been, was to house old content. Seeing as how they keep on adding old activities, it is clear that it was the intention but as usual Bungie is terrible with their executions. Best thing is to revert the changes to the old core activities and just keep on filling Portal with the old activities.
