I’ve been playing Destiny since D1, and after watching Bungie experiment with a dozen different power systems, resets, seasonal bumps, sunsetting, and everything in between, here’s what I think would finally stabilize the game long-term. A system that works like WoW: predictable, stable, consistent, and not reinvented every few months.
I’m not claiming this is perfect, but I genuinely think this would be the healthiest structure Destiny could adopt.
1. Power Should Get Higher Every Expansion
Example:
Soft Cap: 500
Hard Cap: 530
Pinnacle Cap: 550
Every expansion increases all Power caps by +15.
Not a reset — Power always goes up, never down.
This cap stays the same for 6 months.
2. Soft and Hard Caps Are Fully Accessible to Everyone
You reach Soft → Hard just by playing:
Campaign
Strikes
Seasonal activities
Open world
Normal dungeons
Old raids
This respects the time of casual and midcore players.
3. Pinnacle Power Comes Only From Endgame
The last 20 levels—what actually matters—come from:
New raids
Raids Master
Dungeons Master
Grandmaster or Master Nightfalls
Trials (high rating)
Iron Banner
Competitive Crucible
Seasonal events with challenges
Gambit difficult bounties (high-stakes)
This gives hardcore/endgame players something meaningful to chase without locking casuals out of the game.
People who push high-end content should feel different.
4. Delta Works Like D1 — Power Actually Matters
Being:
20 under = painful
10 under = tough but doable
equal = ideal
10–20 over = comfort zone
Power becomes a stat with purpose again.
5. Temporarily Earnable Cosmetic Flexes
We need more status cosmetics tied to skill-based content that LAST ONLY FOR A SEASON or A WEEK.
Things like:
Nightfall difficulty cosmetic auras
Raid completion effects (glows, animated shaders)
Dungeon mastery glows
Flashy transmats/effects tied to difficulty level
Crucible cosmetic flairs for:
Iron Banner performance
Trials flawless streaks
Comp ranking milestones
Gambit cosmetic rewards for high-invasion streaks or blocker kills
Seasonal event temporary badges/effects
eg: “Festival of the Lost Champion” aura
or “Dawning Elite” snow-glow
or “Solstice Radiant Champion” flame effect
The key is:
You keep the item permanently, but the visual effect lasts only for that season/week/event.
Competitive players finally get something to brag about.
Casual players still get cool loot, just not the “elite” visual flex.
6. No More Sunsetting, Ever
Old guns stay relevant forever.
Buildcrafting and perk variety are the real chase.
Not repeating the same power grind for the same gun with the same perks.
Destiny should respect the time players put in.
7. Dungeons Are the Bridge Between Casual → Hardcore
Normal dungeons get you to Hard Cap
Master dungeons push you into Pinnacle range
Perfect difficulty ramp without forcing 6-player coordination.
8. Raids Become the Crown Jewel Again
They should give:
Highest Pinnacle gains
Exotic weapons with unique mechanics
Prestige cosmetics
Temporary visual effects to flex clears
Raids become the apex activity they should be.
Why This System Works
Predictable yearly progression
No seasonal burnout
No FOMO power chase
Casuals aren’t locked out
Hardcore players get meaningful advantages
Cosmetics create social prestige
Endgame stays alive
Power finally matters again
It’s a stable framework Destiny could keep for YEARS without reinventing the wheel.
