D2 needs new direction on its evolution

Destiny 2 is well-positioned to again be a great game -- potentially. All the way back at the start, it was basically an MMO fps. There's a huge focus on pve, with nearly no consideration for pvp or pvevp. Storywise I think it would be a great move to have factions and falling out between main characters on the direction of tower or humanity leadership. This is especially well positioned given the events of Kepler and upcoming renegades (just a guess but we are not the renegades, the new vex allies are). We now have hive (kind of) allies, eliksni allies, soon to be vex allies, and cabal allies. Cool. Probably still some xenophobic guardians out there. Probably also guardians that would have liked to rekindle a dark age like rule of strength. There are some that would like to explore outside the solar system. Some that would become golden age tech hunters. Some that want to serve or help the nine. Some that would like to live with eliksni, some that want to do x. Maybe even some that would have sided with the witness in theory... My point is that the Kindle is there for splinters from the main group storywise, which opens new gameplay mechanics options. Guild houses and sectors become relevant. For example, cosmodrome areas under control of factions a b c equally, edz is almost entirely controlled by a while b and c are fighting each other. Europa is owned mostly by bray cultists. things like that. It is t even something that you as a guardian must hold hard and fast to. Maybe it's a guild alignment and you're part of it as part of the guild. And this gets guilds into guild quests similar to portal events. Such as using the public events and patrols, as well as pvp bounties in the open world. We need more reasons to go open world on our destination planets and just just run strikes and boring missions and raids. People like openness. The destiny 2 sandbox is not a sandbox. It's a subway system with different platforms and transfer stations, but still on rails. There are no stakes or bonuses. The only decisions to make are about progression and levelling, making the game itself the players' antagonist, not the big bad of the story. You need to shift the narrative to making us have stakes on our decisions and making interesting choices that determine our own story progression as a player, guild, and entire player base. If people want to do raids and progress campaigns cool, everyone can still do that too. Except you keep deleting content and story beats. Make the game a base platform for campaigns for these people. Let them launch a campaign and download the content for it themselves. They can choose if they have disk space or not to keep it all local or to delete that campaign on abandoning it's quests Raids are different. But I'm sure the content for a raid individually is not huge. That will offload a large part of the concern of the game getting too big. There are tons of things you can do to allow your player base to control their own destinies. Whether it's solo or with a fire team, or guild. Currently, if you're going solo, you can't do raids because of the multi person mechanics usually necessary. Lame. If you're running with a group, you have to follow what they want to do. Also lame. Gambit was the closest arena combat in the game and it's gone now. Let's make that open world. Bring gambit mechanics to regions of the map (already a precedent for this) and players joining map regions for contested zone fights. I can only imagine a dozen nova warps flying across a massive battlefield. Or stasis titans freezing up a large area of the dreaming city's areas or even battles for regions of savathuns throne world, to try and enter into a sword logic based cult for boons. Come on, give us choice, give us something interesting. Give us community.
