013 [spoiler]my clan's had a few returning players join. They've indicated they're either confused or overwhelmed or both with the changes to gear. They're confused by the difficulty differences between portal and non-portal activities like Whisper or Empire Hunts. Being a Kinderguardian right now would be horrible. I struggled for quite a while when I joined during Witch Queen's year. I couldn't imagine starting now.[/spoiler]

012 [spoiler] that is exactly what one of the big disconnects are between the players and the developers we play the game a lot more than they do so the variable in difficulty from a newer player to a long-standing player like myself is very different so their idea of difficulty doesn't translate well since we've done most of this stuff a thousand times and know all of the mechanics for the most part even if they reintroduce something and have it be more difficult we still get it done easier cuz the only thing that they're adding in difficulty is higher HP and the like or timers but that exponentially makes it worse for newer players that don't understand the mechanics as well as we do The problem is that the developers aren't playing the same game we are and not for as long so they don't understand the same burnout that a lot of players have or as for newer players everything's new and exciting but the added recent difficulty curve is even scaring the newer players cuz it's too much too fast[/spoiler]

010 [spoiler]I think a lot of people forget that there's a sliding scale for personal difficulty. In the same way, not everyone can be a professional sports player or a scientist like Hawking. I'm not and will likely never be a 1% player like Eso no matter how much I practice. What's easy or hard for me is different than what's easy or hard for someone else. Those personal markers will also change over time.[/spoiler]

009 [spoiler]I think I've improved since Heresy by a lot. My first few Nether attempts were 2.5 hours to get through one boss. Ouch. As I got faster at one, I started doing 2 zones, then 3. Then Rite dropped, and I got to play "easy mode" dungeons. Joined a new clan with great members. Ran some real dungeons and even raids, too. As much as I'm not enjoying Portal, the steady change in increasing difficulty has been good for me.I've even played pvp. I got my first 5-streak in Hardware on Tuesday![/spoiler]
