I've ran the forge max temper 3 times today and gotten 3 keys. I inserted them all and none of them added progress... I had the box and 2 keys unlocked already. I tried to insert the key from todays forge, but it just gets consumed and does not add progress. I thought I saw something about needing to abandon the box, for the fix to work. So I did that. Reacquired the box, from ada. Losing the progress of the 2 keys I already had, thanks btw. And ran the forge again. Got the key for the third time, go to insert, key is consumed and I get no progress again. Nice. I love wasting time.
