Is Three of Coins simply a placebo? (Bungie Official Tweet)
Without Bungie providing the percentage increase of chance for an exotic to drop, how do we know if ToC does anything at all?
We can’t rely on Bungie’s veracity here either. Think, first they throttled experience gain without telling us but allowed us to buy fire team medallions that would have been pointless if you were being throttled. Then they “fixed” the issue of throttling xp gain but then DOUBLED the amount of xp needed to level up without telling a soul.
Based on that track record, what’s keeping them from releasing ToC as a placebo for us to burn through the thousands of shards we have? How does one prove that random drops have increased when said drops are RANDOM?!?
[b]UPDATE:[/b] So after reading many of your comments it seems as if ToC is in fact BUGGED and REDUCES your chance of gaining exotics when activated. My recommendation is to avoid using ToC at all costs if you value getting exotic drops.
Bungie is now on Christmas break so it’s doubtful we will hear anything on this issue nor will it be resolved any time soon.

7 RepliesI’m starting to wonder... I played the four hours doing strikes for forging materials. Not one exotic drop. Timer runs out. Around hour later I get an exotic drop... And it was a duplicate. So ya, 3oC might be a placebo. I’ve seen no drop increases at all. Also, I think bright engram XP has been throttled again... Those 4 plus hours of strikes and public missions didn’t flip it once. 🤔

Thought the same thing. the description was very vague. My theory is that they are selling them so you would have something to use your "legendary shards" on.

Bought 7 3oc yesterday. Used two and grinder for 8 hours (different days) and not 1 exotic drop during that time and played PEs and heroic strikes the whole time. Also kind of weird that I got an exotic after the timer expired on both uses

2 RepliesIt's called "honesty" boy. You play fairly and don't swindle left and right then you get your exotic. You cheat and manipulate then bungle sees it and revoke all exotic drops for you.

Destiny 2 is like a placebo. Bungie is just joking with destiny 2. It was all a prank. They will release the real destiny 2 years from now

My 3oC worked instantly. I did 10 public events, no exotics, I pop a 3oC and got an exotic on the second try

Tried yesterday for four hours got nothing, tried for three hours this morning and one dropped but that was a public event and they drop there anyway so can’t confirm that 3oC had any effect. I’m holding onto what I have and wait and see if Bungie says anything.

1 ReplyI haven't had a chance to try them yet. I know that my drop rate went down 60% a few patches ago, so once I start using them I'll be able to tell. From what I'm reading all of the boons are crap and not worth the shards. I did get my St 14 Helm from the fated engram, so I was pleased with that.

Yeah. Placebo. Too expensive for what you get. Think about it. You MIGHT get one more exotic than you would have otherwise...yet it cost you 31shards. How much does Xur sell exotics for again?
