Where is the Lore?
I'm really invested into DS3 but I keep hearing about lore in-game. Where is it?

The game doesn't flat-out give it to you. You have to search for it, via item descriptions, NPCs, and environmental design.

Creation Story(Short Version): the world was a dark place filled with dragons and evil shit. Then the First Flame showed up, he created and gave a part of it to 4 people. They became known as gods because the with the flame they created the world. Eventually some asshole dragon/Dark Lord guy, came and created the abyss(Pure Evil!!!!), the world of light fought back, they created the Abyss Watchers and used countless men to fight back. Sadly they lost. All the 4 "gods" became corrupted. In a last attempt the last people locked away any undead(they rose from the dead because of the abyss) in a undead asylum. That is where dark souls 1 begins. This was a short,mostly accurate version. And believe or not there is lore just like this in every game.

1 ReplyIt's all around you. It's in the item descriptions. It's in NPC dialogue. It's in cutscenes. It's in the very architecture that surrounds you. Ambiguity is a part of these games, and while it isn't really essential, you can play the first two if you are really hungry for more lore.

As someone else said, it's everywhere. You can find it in items, NPCs, enemies, or even the world itself. Look a little harder.

If you're a newbie you won't have a clue where to look. Please watch vattividya lore videos. If you've played dsrk souls one or 2 or both then watch those. You won't understand any of it if you don't know anything about the first 2 games.

Read item descriptions. Play ds1 and two and read the item descriptions there too. Most importantly the environmental story too, pay attention to that as well.

The lore is in the environment, item descriptions, and in NPC conversations.

6 RepliesIf this is your first souls game you're gonna have a harder time picking up the lore. Dark souls 3 heavily leans on its past games for lore support as many armor sets and items reference past dark souls characters, places, and events.

You read item descriptions or just go look that wikis for more organized collections of lore. Also, you could always find lore videos.
