So I tried the Totems cheese today...
Tried getting in a full raid before work. I had about two and a half hours, and joined a fireteam that was all 317+. Everyone in the group had a working mic, sounded adult, and acted mature. As we started the raid, there was no talk of who's doing this or are we using that strategy. Always a good sign.
We get to totems with minimum effort and zero setbacks. As we get to the totems, it happens. The fireteam leader asks if we know the totems cheese. Everyone says yes, and agrees its faster and easier. I stay silent, unsure of how to react. I've heard of the cheese before, and know how to do it in concept. Before today, I had the same opinion of this cheese as I did the no-knight strat; if it gets the job done, and without too much hassle, I don't care.
However, after a full hour on totems we had no success. Most of the fireteam at this point agreed we should just do the normal strategy, but the fireteam leader was adamant. He claimed if we did the normal strat, we would wipe more and take longer. Considering he was the one that died EVERY TIME, I had enough. For the first time in months, I rage quit a raid. Never again will I suffer through the totems cheese. If you insist on it, I'm just going to grab the cp and leave. The warpriest will NOT deem you worthy.
Tl;Dr Kings Fall totems cheese is for noobs who can't do the easiest reward stage of the raid.

3 RepliesI've said it once and I'll say it again; if a team needs to "cheese" the easiest part of the raid then imagine their struggle on the rest of the raid. You saved yourself many hours and much frustration by leaving when you did.

Have done both and prefer the normal way. Less random factors and it's the way it was intended. It's not hard anyways why do you need to use a different strategy?

I had never done the cheese before the first time last week. It also has a risk of people not transferring or if people let nights go through and don't tell the guys on the totems they will have trouble. Also if they don't countdown to let them know when the boomers are almost out, that can be a problem. I personally like the normal way more.

was in a randam group awhile ago and one guy wanted to cheese! i argued with him and he booted me! lol 4 players then quickly joined my fireteam! he was 312 enough light! but refused to take advice from a 320? said i got lucky!

Never hear of the cheese, we just do 2 people at the totem at a time and switch one each round on both sides. Easy peasy. What's the cheese?

Never even heard of a cheese for Totems, or thought there was any need to even look for one. My regular raid team gets this on the first try pretty much every time, no problem, as do most groups I've LFG'd with.

1 ReplyYou need to be horrible at the game to have to cheese totems. If the leader is pushing it he's not a real leader and probably needs to be carried through the whole raid. Once you realize this, take the cp and make your own group. Save yourself hours of frustration.

1 ReplyThat happened to me today. The fireteam leader was very persistent after two wipes and everybody clearly loosing patience I argued with him for about two seconds before he booted me. About 10 min later after looking for a new group I saw a post from him saying need 5 for totems. That was satisfaction enough for me.

1 ReplyHoly shit! I had two random LFG guys join my group and insist on this today! I actually hadn't heard of it, but with a bunch of completions and 6 Oryx challenge comps, I was astonished that randos found a way to cheese a simple mechanic. After we wiped three times, I screamed if you can't do fücking totems normal, then get the fück out! Guess what, year two know it all players who were total scrubs. Why does this community insist on laziness and cheeses for everything? PS I hated no Knight since day one. Give me a shout if you're old and grumpy about cheesers.

Yes the cheese is for noobs... Your leader was a noob. But the people who know how to actually do it correctly are not noobs.
