Petition to Never Use Classic Rock in a Destiny Advert Again

After seeing the Japanese add, I cant even laugh at how shitty the American one is.
Who do these adds even appeal to?
EDIT: Lets not make assumptions about musical taste. Any form of popular music would have been inappropriate. Pop, rap, rock... most popular songs.
EDIT 2: Once again, this is not an attack on classic rock or any particular genre. This is about misleading advertising and out of place music in shitty commercials. All the money they spent on it... its trash.

EDIT: I gotta say, I am amazed how few people get the thread.
The vast majority of the posts on this thread essentially boil down to thinking I am insulting a 70s Rock Band and like Dubstep. As though the entire point of the thread flew over their heads and was completely lost on them. I guess I cant expect less from children.
But I will say this: I was wrong about the advert.
The advert is still an embarassing and misleading schlock epic: money burning on the screen, portraying Destiny as a game of one liners and awesome fist pumping ACTION when in reality, its a very slow moving old school sci fi universe that is highly confusing and has no one liners or bro action AT ALL.
But I thought an advert like this would be completely ineffective. I thought it would be a massive failure around here. But I was wrong, since apparently all it takes is a popular song and some schlock get people excited.
Damn shame that.

I thought the ad in general sucked lol I feel like the greatest thing bungie has done with taken king is release update 2.0 and make the new crucible maps playable early. That alone sent my hype level through the roof, I have never been this excited for a game

The jovial side of post apocalyptic life in the solar system etc. It doesn't work here...its super disappointing it'd be sweet to see some remixed trailers!!! Go to work community Think about some awesome orchestral track or a female vocal choir of some hard rock maybe. Dub step, trap, something original.

4 RepliesGet your head straightened, classic rock is a great way to appeal to everyone. Parents know Led Zeppelin = they find the trailer amusing. Parents find trailer amusing = more incentive to buy it for prodigal being. Prodigal being asks for Taken King = profit. Now I like LZ and all, but there's a lot of songs that fit that trailer as well, for instance... AC/DC, The Offspring, Metallica, Dragonforce, Def Leppard, Kenny Loggins, or even Queen. If you're not into classic rock... Dubstep, Techno, electronica, dance, polka, folk-song, classical, Lindsey Stirling, and many more. The trailer was fine and the music accompanied by it was great! I seriously watch that ad on YouTube whenever it comes on, I don't skip it because I like to watch it.

1 ReplyLol at people who thing Led Zeppelin is classic rock. Zeppelin is the definition of rock and roll. Definitely the definition of what great music used to be until computers and poetry decided to make music. Then again, I wouldn't consider Minaj a poet.

Bungie has been building up the arrival of TTK for quite some time now, and the overall tone they used was much darker. I felt as if there was this sense of urgency on the horizon. But when I saw that commercial, I felt like I was about to play another freakin Call of Duty. The threat of Oryx has been replaced with upbeat guardians taking a stroll, who aren't enduring any type of struggle. My impression was that they were having fun. For TTK, my guardian should not come off as having fun. He should be enduring a threat that has entered the Solar System and is seeking him out for revenge. This in turn makes the experience fun for me as a player, by building tension and suspense due to this looming threat. That commercial did not do it for me.
