Geometry was a lie?

So I took some things I learned in geometry and put them together only to have them contradict each other. So this is what I did... By definition, a square is a rhombus and a rectangle soooo... Square=rhombus And Square=rectangle But, by substitution property, you can substitute rectangle for square since square=rectangle soooo.... Rectangle=rhombus But by definition they are different. How can they be equal????

They aren't equivalent. Every square is a rhombus and every square is a rectangle, but not every rhombus is a square and not every rectangle is a square. Thus: Rectangle =/= Square Rhombus =/= Square Rectangle =/= Rhombus
