Gaming with people from different consoles

You know, I could've sore that one of the big things about Destiny was that you could play with players from different consoles since Destiny, as an MMO, is a server based game and the game discs that players have are basically just client software. I mean that was one of the things that had me the most excited about the game- the idea that I could buy the game for my PS3 and my friends could get it for their 360's and I'd still be able to tear the faces off of the Hive, Fallen, and Cabal with them, that was just a giant pile of win in my mind. It would also make the community IN THE GAME bigger, because now you have people from all the consoles heading to the tower to get ready for their next adventure, and maybe pick up a solo player or two to bring along and hey maybe that solo player ends up making a new friend or two because of it (not saying this doesn't happen because I have made a couple of friends while playing the game as a solo player, but it would be a lot more likely to happen with more people around). Plus the concept of BREAKING THE CONSOLE BARRIER is an amazing feat in my mind, I mean when you're playing a pc MMO, it doesn't matter if you're specs are higher or not or if your machine is a different brand from someone else's or not, you can still play together, why does this have to be true with console based online games??? Why the exclusivity for certain events??? Why must most of the community based things have to be through your website?? Why, if my guild/clan ever gets off the ground, will I have to appoint a leader for the 360 based members, the Xbox One based members, the PS4 based members, and then lead just the PS3 based members? One of the great things about MMOs that make them the Massively Multiplayer games that they are is that their in-game communities are massive, where as this game, that is advertised as a MMO, has a community that has been quartered from the get go, not just based on where the gamer lives, which is to be expected, but by what console they play the game on. It makes the in-game community feel small and weak and not everyone who plays even knows about this web site- had to tell at least one person about it and I don't think they've been back to it since. And there are some of us, like me, who have friends with Xboxes but not PlayStations and gut the game for their PlayStations because of the rumored trans consoled gaming (if I'm wrong about this then someone needs to let me know the details because I have yet to run into a 360 player on my PS3). I'd love to see this happen and think it would definitely make the game better, but as a fellow person who has taken game development classes (had to drop out of school a year early for health reasons), I also know that this would cause the servers strain, but I also think that that can be lessoned with the right techniques as well. Bungie, I've been playing your games since Halo, Combat evolved, even picked up a copy of Marathon when I discovered that you had been it's developer- If anyone can change the face of gaming and break the console barrier, it's you guys, because you've changed the face of gaming before, I believe you can do so again.
