Simple question, how long have you been playing Online/Multiplayer First Person Shooters and what do you think about what we have seen so far from Destiny. (There Forum Police are you happy now.)

Lol, Vetern.

I really don't see why this belongs in #Destiny over #Gaming.

Edited by Downserj: 10/8/2013 5:22:33 PMI've been playing FPS roughly 20 years. Online FPS for 12 or 13 years. My first FPS was Doom, loading it up in DOS mode, lol. That pulled me into the FPS world. Then I played Wolfenstein 3D, Doom 2, and some other early random shooters. Then my first Online experience was with Quake 3 Arena, such a brand new experience for me at the time. Then I played a little Half Life multiplayer, as well as Duke Nukem 3D. GoldenEye was such a great game, it was my first major FPS on console that I truly enjoyed. I also liked some Turok, early Medal of Honor games, TimeSplitters 1 and 2, Red Faction, Socom, Early Ghost Recon games... and of course South Park the game. Then Halo came out, which became my All-Time-Favorite franchise. I bought the Xbox the first month of release and played Halo with my brother locally and across LAN everyday almost up till Halo 2. We had a 16 man LAN party about once a month a year or so after it released. That was a whole new level of experience for me. After that it was the rest of the Halo games, not so much Halo 4 though, and Battlefield Bad Company 2 and BF3, and also Borderlands 2 if you count that one. I'm sure there are many more that I forgot that were great, plus many that I'm probably glad I forgot too, lol. But Destiny is looking to be the top game on my list, especially when it comes to shooters. I cannot wait to be able to jump into this universe and explore it with my friends. Plus Titanfall looks like it may be something I will pickup as well.

Golden Eye on N64 is what started it for me. Halo:CE was what got me really into shooters though. Golden Eye came out in '97, so that's 16 years... Wow... time flies.

Edited by th0rg0d: 10/8/2013 4:31:56 PMBeen playing since Doom, 93ish I think?(kinda foggy back then...) Played Marathon series on release. Started online back with the first Tribes, and Halo when it released on PC. Downhill ever since. Destiny has me very excited. The last time I was this hyped about a game was the early 2009 vids of CCP's Dust 514. Like Dust, Destiny's long term potential is very promising. I hope Bungie delivers, which they tend to do.

I'm 15 and I played Halo:CE when I was about five ( doesn't mean I could shoot straight but I tried) so about ten years

FPS has been my favorite genre since I was a kid, and it just so happened to get super popular. I've been playing FPSs since I was a kid, but I've been playing online for about 3 years now. I'm not the most grizzled or spectacular, but I've been around for a while. And my thoughts on Destiny? Most I've been hyped for a game since Halo 3. And my hype is even exceeding that too. The science fantasy setting is my absolute favorite part of it. Like the update described the Hellmouth being like a medieval castle and we're going to be journeying in to defeat a huge monster.

Been playing FPS since the first Turok as a kid. Destiny is the most reasonably hyped I've been for a shooter in a very long time.
-
At least since Halo CE but I can't remember what I was playing before that.
-
First online game I played on 56k modem was age of empires. And then I was a counter strike affect for years. Still am. But when I got a Xbox and halo: CE and then figured out Xbox Live Connect via system link I was a converted Bungie fan. :)

Edited by EnigmaNemesis: 9/21/2013 2:34:55 AMSince Doom in 1993, connecting with our dial up modems!

Edited by Olivo09: 10/7/2013 11:19:14 PMI loved ghost recon! Man I used to play that game on my PS1 all the time. But my first FPS was 007 Tomorrow Never Dies on N64
-
I think my earliest first person shooters I've played were Duke 3D and Doom in 95'. But that doesn't have to say anything. I'm not talented in playing FPS titles, but it's always fun at all. After a 100 deads in multiplayer matches I often get a little bit better.:-)

Since Halo 2 went first online back in...... 2004 was it?
-
When I first got LIVE in 2006.

Edited by Niedopałek: 9/21/2013 8:58:39 PMMy first FPS was Halo CE.
-
Doom (1993), played it so much I had pixelated dreams :)
-
About 14 years for me.
-
Call of Duty Finest Hour, loved that game back in 2004, I was 7-8 years old, 8 year veteran at only 16 years old, half my life has been exposed to FPS.
-
We'll I don't know my first game. But I loved battlefield.
-
You would need to add a new option answer for me haha. I've been playing FPS since the day I got into consoles, like 14 or so years ago, with Medal of Honor on PS one! After that my second FPS was Halo: Combat Evolved, and since then I bought every single Halo game and some other shooters as CoD (which I only enjoyed Black Ops) and games like Ghost Recon, Battlefield, Borderlands, and Planet Side 2. I just can't wait for Destiny to come out.
-
not even a year... it was Halo CE in December 2011-January 2012....at least I could tell that out of 17 bullets I shot to an Elite, I manage to make 14 of them go to the head... with an AR..
-
I've probably been playing for about 5 years, but I didn't take it seriously until about two years ago.

8-9 years
