So today mint retrograde is on Contest of Elders. In the current system it is an absolute waste of time and with these pumpkins exploding and killing you not to mention the pumpkin launcher ads one shoting you, it's miserable. This event already takes forever to do and the payout is trash. No exaggeration it's just bad.
Perfect prime example of not being play tested to see player experience to rewards given. The time it takes to do all of these rooms not to mention if there is punishments that you have to go through which happens a lot because randoms don't know what's going on half the time it's a little waste of effort.
This is why -30 for rank 11 level 550 is a complete joke and unfair.
I know I'm wasting my breath but it just takes the wind right out of you whenever you're trying to enjoy yourself in the game and it finds a way to continuously deflate enthusiasm towards it.

chill touch also needs to be removed from ultimate tier. With the amount of banes active chill touch is a guaranteed death. rage bane also needs to be toned down a bit as well. it takes a clip of mint to kill one of them.

All chests encountered during activities should provide rewards commensurate with the player's level, especially in lengthy activities like Contest of Elder and Onslaught. Currently, even mid-activity chests obtained at 550 power level still yield Tier 4 rewards, which is utterly unreasonable. The Dev Team fails to calculate the reward-to-time-investment ratio and merely mechanically utilizes backend player data from the server.

Everything in the game is overtuned now, and if this is what we will have through Renegades, the game is done. Imagine all the new players once hitting 450+, which is not that hard anymore, hitting the wall of doing all these activities the way they are now?

1 ReplyI personally believe it's not the deltas It's the caps if we could over level the activity with effort and time it wouldn't be that bad It would give us a goal to play get stronger than our opponent then farm the crap out of the gear we want constantly being at a handicap is not fun the modifiers should increase the amount of loop we get not be the only way we can get loot sometimes you just want to play a base activity and if my rewards are at the bare minimum but still progress that's fine if I wanted to try hard I would add all those modifiers but I just want to relax and play but I can't because zero progress and if I'm not making progress what's the point of even playing

Agree, that’s what happened when you leave difficulty scaling to an Excel file randomly mixing modifiers from a list.

Oh also I want to say compared to prison of elders and challenge of elders in D1 this still breaks my heart immensely despite the best thing about it being the infinite loop mechanic it has allowing you to spend constant time grinding the mode out even though it’s sad, brutal, and nothing sweet like the original ones in Destiny 1😞. At least I can go back to D1 for that though, to relive those glorious pieces of content. God, revenant hurt though:(.

Bungie barely builds these activities to function at a base level, so of course they're overtuned and unbalanced when they start throwing random modifiers and level deltas at it with zero thought as to how it impacts an activity. "Making content is hard," so they just recycle what they already have then make the room detonate every 2.3 seconds while forcing you to crawl through barbed wire to get out in time. Difficulty!

7 RepliesId just go down to master or grandmaster if you’re playing on Ultimate. It’s much more manageable, even though the rewards won’t be as high in power, I would assume they are still tier 5. I’m not 550 yet so I can’t confirm with Master difficulty, but grandmaster was still giving me tier 5’s.

I would say MM for this activity is probably the worst experience in the game by far. The randoms you get in this activity when it has MM are probably the worst in the game. Just way too long for poor rewards even if you get to the end

I wasn’t running the most cracked build….but had a teammate who wrecked one level and got zero revive tokens for the team. How do you even get revive tokens if there are no champions? Not fun. I don’t care if it’s pinnacle ops, etc… I’ve done these activities prior to the portal and they were fine.

Tried it a few times on Ultimate, then GM - only got to third encounter, also joined groups where one player was alive and all revives gone; total waste of time. More evidence of no play testing and that Bungie does not play their own game.

The 1 revive is what does my head in. Why can’t we just start with 3? 1 revive each. Done.

They do play test, but in "dev build" being 50 over the power level so the difficulty is way off

2 RepliesThe whole thing is outrageous. I am 550, and can't even get past the second encounter (tried on a grand master even at 400). Sometimes not even at the first... I have tried 10 times now... I am not doing it ever again... Bungie this now another you can count me out from doing this again until you make it better.

Well thankfully the pumpkins are gone tomorrow. But yes that is one of the hardest missions to do. The limited revive system has several flaws. Notably highlighted in contest of elders.
