Why Weapon Crafting is a Good Thing

To get the desired Borrowed Time roll I wanted (which I didn't even get), consider what I spent to achieve it: It cost me 42 Gambit Umbral Engrams to focus, 500k Glimmer, and ~2,000 Legendary Shards, as well as about 1,000 Helium Filaments and 300 Spinmetal Leaves from Master Rahool to sell for extra Glimmer to pay for the Gambit Umbral Engram focusing cost. This was on top of at least 12 straight hours of grinding nothing but Gambit during this current Double Reputation Gain week to reset my rank with Drifter 4 times so I could max out my chances of receiving both columns with triple perks, potentially. If you don't believe me, feel free to check my public game history. It's all Gambit. I did all of this work only to receive what I consider a sub-optimal Borrowed Time. The only thing it lacks is the desired Masterwork, but otherwise, I am fine with it. Imo, when you put all of this into context with the absolutely massive perk polls of ritual/core playlist weapons, weapon crafting is not terrible at all in comparison to this horrible RNG grind, and I would far rather grind red boxes and spend far fewer materials to invest in what I am guaranteed to want, rather than gambling precious materials and potentially getting nothing I want while wasting my irreplaceable time.
