Sooo, about those "class identities"
I'm sure many of us remember that a couple months ago we were told that certain things weren't going to happen as they were now part of another classes identity.
Well, now we know that Hunters are getting blink and Titans are essentially getting the Bakris slide, which are very much a part of the Warlock and Hunter identity respectively, making that whole spiel about class identities a little short sighted, don't you think?
(Oh, and for anyone who was planning on commenting "Hunters had blink in D1", guess what else was in D1. Yeah).

3 RepliesIt’s the kind of thing where I feel like we’re always being talked to by marketing people. Either that or the direction of something like that by designers just changes almost monthly. Remember when Stasis was talked about and each class had its own identity? Hunters slow, Titans freeze, and Warlocks shatter. How true was that? Not at all. Everyone could slow, freeze, and shatter. And they seem to be doing the same type of things with the light subclasses. They’re spreading things around that in the past were associated by just one class. There are areas where the classes seem less defined, and areas where they are becoming more defined. But weirdly I feel like I’m having a harder time defining Warlocks than I am Hunters and Titans. But in a year that might change. Maybe sooner when the sandbox teams makes a bunch of adjustments everywhere to the subclasses to retune them.

I don’t care. They all do the hinge differently with the tiger 3.0 so they still have their identity. In the lore Felwinter basically shoulder charges someone and he was a warlock so arguably all light can be manipulated in the same way.

io don't really see the problem, void : warlock king of esplosion and king of pve, titan king of camp and overshield , hunter king of invis , solar, warlock king of heal , titan king of spam/easy mode pve , arc warlock king of chain and spam super/ability, still the same to me

Yep. The Tweet was about Twilight Garrison and how Titans won't ever get it back cause "dodge is apart of the Hunter identity". Only Bungie says one thing and does another so much

I want a hunter dodge on my warlock now that replaces my rift, I want the same exact benefits too like breaking aim assist in the middle of a fight, reloading my weapons or straight up granting me a full charge melee. Hunters can copy class identity, at this point we should just merge all classes into one class and everyone will be happy.

3 RepliesThe problem with class identities is that every time they existed people -blam!- and moaned because the other classes did something their class couldn’t. Every. Single. Time. So I guess bungie got understandably tired of it and decided to make the classes more similar in what they can do.

1 ReplyIf you want more customization there is going to be overlap. Funny how the same people who are mad seem to bring up other times bungie did the opposite of what they said in the past. It’s crazy to me that people get so mad about this game. Can’t tell if it’s denial or that some people just aren’t capable of learning.

Thank you! Couldn't agree more. When Hunter's were [u]the only ones[/u] left without a Restoration Aspect/Fragment, I mentioned it. Then the en-"tidal"-ment wave hit with "Everyone has a role" or "You don't need everything everyone else has." Even though: 1. Devour: Everyone 2. Radiant: Everyone (Especially you Titans who pretend you don't have infinite hammers) 3. Now blinking/ dodging: Everyone.

I see nothing wrong with giving hunters stuff from all other classes and making the class identity seem like it’s only around for the convenience of the dev team. Hunters have always been the least used and skillful class for only the most experienced of gamers in D1 and D2. So it seems right to ignore any semblance of thought related to class identity being ruined. Titans are soldiers warlocks are scribes hunters are gods with rain hoods. Seems right to me.

5 RepliesNo body care. People just get caught up in something new integrity of the game and nuance be damned. The game remains in a terrible state..unrewarding...pointlessly grindy and lacking any inspiration. We will go through a few month of untested no quality control done by the dev of arc super and ability spam and settle into the normal state of destiny now. Lazy sameness and poorly conceived grinds masquerading as content.

You guys care too much about the wrong things. Edit: We’re starting to sound like a kids mad because some other kid got the toy you wanted, or you didn’t want that kid to have the same toy, or “their toy is shinier”. All the while you just don’t know much about how to use your toy, and before even getting it, you’re looking at flaws it might have. Can we open the damn box first, play with it and then leave feedback on how it could be better?
