Who/what is Nezerac?
I’ve only heard two things about him. (Nezerac’s sin, Nezerac’s whisper). What is his sin? What was is his whisper? Is he alive? Where is he? [spoiler]licks finger [/spoiler]

Here's a good sin, though not really. You created man. You let them believe in things. You let them believe they're real, that they are free from control. You don't let them know they're just part of your master plan, defined...and their definition, though they're unaware...leads to you as the meaning to their entire existence. You created your own self worth.

Edited by Shockwave 989: 8/17/2022 2:45:57 PMHe was somehow involved with Pre-Golden Age Humanity and seems to have been a Disciple of the Witness. So either he’s dead, in stasis or has betrayed the Witness. Considering Calus went to claim his Pyramid, I’d assume either 1 or 3.

1 ReplyI think Bungie is hinting at that he came to earth untold years ago but chose for whatever reason not to wipe us out, perhaps to "train us through pain" and use us against the witness. Or they could go the "was humanity's originator narrative" . This would explain why the Pyramid ship on the moon is so old and why his glaive was there. Did we ever find out who the Salvation guy/girl was in beyond light? would be easy to say that was him.

6 RepliesWhen we got Nezarec’s Sin, Nezarec himself was a Pre-Golden Age myth. A god of the old world. But now they’ve given him temples on other planets and he’s linked directly to the Witness, so he must be another Disciple or something

Likely a former/current disciple of the witness that once commanded the lunar pyramid. Pretty much everything else is speculation based on the two lore tabs. I’d suggest you read them if you’re curious. I’d expect him to maybe show up more going down the line and a possible appearance in the story right before/after Lightfall.

1 ReplyHe's a possible former or current Disciple of the Witness. Rhulk gifted him with a glaive (Nezarec's Whisper) which lay abandoned in what we can only assume is Nezarec's pyramid ship. This leass many to believe him to be a deserter of the Witness. From the lore text on Nezarec's Sin, he comes across as pretty vile. He seems to be a mass killer who is worshipped by many, a god of death and the end of all if you will. That's all we currently know about him.
