The Iron Lords must return.

For a while now, 6-ish years since Rise of Iron, the Iron Lords have been dormant since their rebuilding from the conclusion of Rise of Iron. I believe it is time that the Iron Lords return as a major player in the current Destiny story, whether SIVA returns (though I hope it does with WOTM) or not. For the last 6-ish years the Iron Lords have been rebuilding their strength since before and after the Red War, it only makes sense for them to return in power to challenge the current authority of the Vanguard as leaders of Humanity. No, I do not want this to be a singular seasonal storyline, rather it's capable for it to be made into a multi year spanning narrative. With Lord Saladin's absence Lady Efrideet* reveals the new Iron Lords, made up of Guardians from Destiny 1 who chose to stay as Iron Lords, with her as a mentor-like role to the new generation of Iron Lords. This will also allow Bungie to craft entirely new characters with separate motives from the Vanguard and the Guardians. Obviously they would mirror Lord Saladin with a more traditional/old world view condemning the use of stasis/darkness, the Drifter and his shady businesses, and the alliances with the Cabal and especially with the House of Light. Bungie can use the return of the Iron Lords as an excuse and catalyst for the return of the Iron Temple, Destiny 1 Iron Banner Gear/Rise of Iron Gear and, if they really wanted to (and should), bring back the rest of the Cosmodrome + Plaguelands with the crashed Almighty unleashing a new threat of SIVA infecting the Cosmodrome as a whole. Eramis' Fallen Empire could even return here out of desperation for a new power in SIVA in addition to stasis, so that it doesn't feel entirely out of pocket for a Fallen SIVA threat to return, though maybe a bit cheesy. Shiro-4 could even make a return here as a middle man between the scattered Vanguard and the now united Iron Lords. Though aggressive with their stance the Iron Lords will play the role of the Brutes from Halo 2, overthrowing the old guard to become the new. I would even call this challenge of authority to be the reason as to why we return to a now expanded Tower of old, to resemble a position of power over the Last City, where the Iron Lords and the Vanguard are at odds with each other in a presidential style election race. In theory, this will also reintroduce the player choice style story we saw back in Season of the Drifter, where the player actively influences their story by choosing to stand with the Iron Lords or the Vanguard, though something actually becomes of this. I am tired of the current seasonal narratives that amount to nothing as their plot has no consequence of the overarching story. It's about damn time that all the seasons focus on one overall plot where the expansion adds new opportunities for the plot to adapt to new threats. I know this might seem like too much in some aspects, however I believe it is necessary as of right now for the Iron Lords, at least, to return in strength to challenge the Vanguard and current generation of Guardians. *Or some other new Iron Lord from the new generation.
