Saber Reborn: My Guardians origin story

“Guardian, Guardian wake up! It’s time to move!” His eyes shoot open and he lurches forward, gasping for breath.  “What’s happening? What-” says the confused Guardian.  “There’s no time to explain!” says the glowing, talking orb, cutting him off. “I promise everything will be cleared up soon, but first we have to get out of here before the Fallen find us”.  “The… Fallen?” he asked.  “As I said, no time to explain. Follow me, we need to find a ship”. The Guardian looks down at his metallic body, moving his hands and twitching his fingers. The Guardian should be confused, yet this body feels familiar. He remembers nothing, yet he is able to get up and run with the hovering orb.  “Where are we?” asks the new light.  “Venus, Ishtar Sink.” responds the Ghost. “We’re close to what remains of the Ishtar Academy”.  “And what are you?” “I am a Ghost. Well, more accurately, I’m your Ghost now” responds the orb. “And you are a Guardian, chosen by the Traveler to protect humanity. Now, speaking of that ship-” before he could finish the sentence a loud boom emanates from the sky. The Guardian looks up to see a massive ship descending from the clouds. “Crap!” shouts the Ghost. “It’s a Fallen Ketch. We’ve got to move now!” Pumping his legs faster than ever, the Guardian sprinted in order to keep up with the Ghost.  “There is an old ship we can use on the other side of this hill!” He could barely be understood over the roar of the Ketch overhead, but the Guardian got the gist. As soon as the pair got to the top of the hill, a Fallen Skiff de-cloaks and flies down to the surface, hovering between an old cargo carrier Jumpship and the duo. A huge captain jumps down from the ship, followed by a battalion of dregs, vandals, shanks, and a servitor.  “This is very bad!” yells Ghost. “There is no way we are getting through that. Come on, we can find another ship somewhere else.” “No.” says the new Guardian.  “What do you mean no?! There are too many of these guys to fight, and you don’t even have a weapon!”  But the Guardian wasn’t listening to the rambling of his Ghost anymore. He felt something inside of him. It was like lightning running through his body, coursing down to his arms all the way to his fists. He knew what he had to do. His Ghost had already started flying away. “Guardian, trust me, we must-” He turns to see his Guardian enveloped in a storm of terrifying Arc lightning. “My God…” he whispers. The fallen captain takes notice and lets out a war cry, but it’s already too late. The Guardian runs down the hill as fast as a bolt of lightning and jumps, letting out a war cry of his own. He slams his fist down on the skull of the captain, making a sound greater than that of one thousand thunder clouds. When the dust settles, all that the Ghost can see left is his guardian standing in the middle of a scorched field of fallen bodies, and the crashed Skiff burning off to one side.  The Ghost zooms over to his new guardian. “How did you do that!” he exclaims. The guardian looks at his Ghost with a look of shock and awe. “I… don’t know. I felt the power inside and just… knew what to do.” “That is the Traveler's gift” explains the Ghost. “You have been given this gift to protect humanity.” “I see…” responds the Guardian. At that moment Ghost notices red letters on the guardian's right upper-arm plate, partially covered by dirt. “What’s this?” he asked. The guardian looks down and brushes the dirt off of his arm. “SBR-13” reads Ghost. “How curious.” “SBR-13…” mumbles the guardian. “That sounds… familiar” “It kind of sounds like Saber,” says Ghost. The guardian looks at him. “Saber, you say? I like the sound of that” he says in his robotic voice. “And do you have a name, Ghost? “No” he responds with a sad tone. “But you could give me one if you’d like!” He says with a few happy beeps.  The guardian thinks for a moment. “Hmm. How about…. Hunter”. “Ooo I like that!” responds Hunter with a happy chirp. “Alright now, Saber, let’s get you to the Last City”.
