I just can't seem to finish filling this Polaris Lance Catalyst. This is the most frustrating catalyst I've ever dealt with, out of all of them, and I have most of them. A small amount of research on the net and YouTube reveals that getting those 'Perfect Fifth' kills aren't simply getting headshots with your perfect fifth, or even killing an enemy with the perfect fifth explosion, or nearby enemies killed by the explosion (ala graviton lance), but instead, [i]getting kills via the burn/scorch damage that takes place [b]after[/b] the explosion[/i]. You are supposed to kill enemies with the burning status effect that takes place after the explosion. Am I wrong?? I've gotten my catalyst to 25/50 by trying to scorch-kill weakened Vex in the beginning of Garden of Salvation, but that doesn't seem to be working anymore ever since Season of the Haunted began. Several videos out there tell you specific ways to hit specific types of cabal etc in just the right spot of hitpoints to get them to die to the burn damage after the explosion, but now that exotics do more damage to red bars, all of those old numbers and tips are out the window. Take note, I'm doing this rant after going to the Leviathan for a while and intentionally trying to burn weak enemies to death after loading those perfect fifth shots while headshotting nightmares, and I have literally seen red bars take scorch procs, tick burn damage, and DIE from it, and there's no movement on the counter. This is catalyst is freaking broken. This is ridiculous. I've pretty much relegated myself to using the gun as is, and maybe in a year of playing with it a lot, I might randomly get the elusive magical 'perfect fifth' unicorn kills enough times to complete the catalyst randomly. Rant over. Constructive note: Bungie, you can make this catalyst make sense by having it count kills made by the perfect fifth explosion and burn procs, both. Make enemies killed by the explosion count. Just like the graviton lance. People have been complaining about this catalyst for years.
