[General (PvP & PvE)]
Ember of Ashes does not increase scorch stacks.
[PvP]
Explosion-only kills incorrectly ignite players.
[PvE]
The knife's explosion does not count as melee damage or as part of the knife at all (sort of). It is inconsistent, to say the least. Here are some of the interactions:
1. The explosion alone does proc Ember of Torches' radiance...
2. ...however, an explosion kill does not proc Knock 'Em Down's melee refund. (...most of the time. there are rare cases where it does, but I cannot find any correlations.)
3. If the explosion of a direct knife hit kills the combatant, the combatant does not ignite. Only combatants killed by the direct knife damage ignite.
4. The explosion does not proc melee-based combat style mods such as Melee Wellmaker or Striking Light.
[Notes]
PvP does not experience the issues that PvE does.
All listed PvE issues function properly with the base proximity knife. Explosion kills proc Ember of Torches, Knock 'Em Down, and melee combat style mods.

Hopefully this explanation can help. I'd love to use the exotic more, but its current state in PvE feels terrible.
