exotic armor focusing using exotic cyphers and exotic/prime engrams
(please upvote post if you like the idea, so that more people get to see it)
grinding for specific exotics can be a pain, exotics take time to drop, and with the increasing amount of them, the chance of finding the armor piece you want can take forever, not to mention the fact that many exotics don't have the stat role that you are looking for.
that is why it might be nice to be able to use exotic ciphers that you can acquire from Xur as well as an exotic engram (or prime engram) that can drop randomly from activities to be able to focus the engram into the desired (already owned) exotic armor piece to assist in the hunt of the desired god roll.
p.s.
exotic ciphers require you to complete an objective to obtain and can only be done once per week per character when bought from Xur, so it is not broken nor will it decrease the enjoyment or playtime during the seasons. if people don't get what they want then they are more likely to stop playing the game out of frustration.
- this feature would be a nice addition to the "monument to lost lights" in the tower between the vaults
- max 3 exotic ciphers in inventory (one for the completion of the quest on each character a week)

Exotics are already too easy to get. They are exotics. They are the pinnacles of the loot world and they shouldn't be handed out so easily.

For Bungie: Please don’t change it to a specific armor slot like helm, gauntlets, body, etc. but actually a specific armor piece, because while this method allows someone to farm for the god roll of a given exotic armor piece, it is not guaranteed to be a high stat drop, and it’s not guaranteed to give a useful stat drop that people can easily integrate into a build. Besides that, it is limited to only 3 per week and if you think 3 per week is too many then you could make it to only ones per week per character, so that it can only be used for 1 specific armor piece per week per character, like pinnacle drops from activities are limited to only 1 per week per character. So unlike the master lost sectors that can easily be farmed this is limited to only 1-3 per week and as such should not be randomized as to which piece you can get. Besides we have the option to get them from collections with a horrible stat role, but a random low stat drop is no better than those from collections, so if the stats are not guaranteed high stat drops then it still required a lot of farming and playing core activities to complete Xur’s bounties on each character each week. If it absolutely needs to be for an armor slot rather than a piece, then please evaluate and discuss the following options to make it even remotely worth the grind each weekend (they are separate ideas, not a combination). - Make ( at least the first) exotic focus during a week a guaranteed 63+ base stat drop - Group the exotics into categories (base game, forsaken, shadow keep, beyond light, witch queen) from which you can select to focus an exotic armor slot (helm, gauntlets, body, etc.) from that destiny 2 year, that way it’s a bigger chance to get the exotic you want, but still no guarantee on a proper stat roll.
