Dead messenger is kinda lame - it needs a buff

I don’t see the usability in this exotic. The fundamentals is a cool perk but I think it should be built into it rather than taking a crucial perk slot. It already feels like it has no real perk or uniqueness apart from the 3 waves. Not to mention it’s catalyst is a waste of time. Here are the basics that need to be addressed: - give it an actual perk that makes it feel exotic. Maybe each element wave does something different like burn, make traces or have volatile for example. - turnabout is very underpowered. The shield in pve especially is incredibly weak and offers no benefit in endgame. - the catalyst should enhance or change the weapon, it feels a little lazy that it’s just a lame perk slapped on to the gun. There are many other much better options like chain reaction, ambitious assassin or lead from gold. - make it stand out further from other wave GLs by giving it some oomph such as increasing damage to majors and bosses/ champions. I definitely feel like there is improvement to be done as right now it’s just a clone of borealis and we already know how popular that gun is. Not to mention A bunch of legendary GLs far outclass this gun *cough* forbearance *cough*

    • What if in addition to turnabout: arc blinded or did a chain lightning, solar burned or exploded, and void suppressed or weakened...or something?

      • I love Dead Messenger, but I kind of wish the catalyst had given Autoloading Holster or Chain Reaction.

          • I’ve been using it all season. It’s very powerful (fallout says it’s super underated) With harmonic siphon and elemental armaments on void 3.0 it is a very potent and ammo friendly weapon (especially with a loader mod on your gloves). It rains orbs and wells on add clear and does decent dps on yellow bars; it is also excellent for peak shooting IMO it’s on par with the flexibility and effectiveness of witherhoard

            • I used dm for a while. When I heard that the cat was turnabout, I was a bit disappointed. But after trying it out, it was actually a good perk. My only problem is that graviton lance (an exotic that feels exotic) is getting its cat reworked to give it turnabout [b]and[/b] vorpal… Graviton: unique pulse, no falloff, kills create mini nova bombs, and now the catalyst is gonna grant overshield on shield break and vorpal. Dm: wave go that has a wider spread, adaptive munitions, and turnabout… You see where the problem is. I propose that we give it wellspring along with turnabout. And maybe we give it auto loading as a normal perk as well.

                • I wouldn't say its weak, but I wouldn't call it strong either. I mean it's great a popping sheilds and add clear. Unfortunately D2 has a lot of flying enemies that can avoid the blast, but that's more of a problem with the archetype.

                  • Yup it's just a legendary with a wider spread wave. It's incredibly disappointing. Does not feel exotic at all in any way. The raid grenade launcher is way better and you can craft your own god roll. They should give Dead Messenger chain reaction or something. Turnabout is garbage.

                  • I’m sorry but you are just wrong. Wave frames are already one of the best weapon types in the game and having the spread of 3 just makes it that much better. You also have the ability to cycle through all 3 elements making it great for content with lots of shields. Turnabout is not a wasted perk, it comes in very helpful for harder content like master VotD for example allowing you to easily break all shields and give yourself an over shield in the process. The gun is not bad, if you think it’s bad you’re using it wrong.

                    This is how I would buff it 1: each wave is its own element. This means you are literally using all 3 elements on one shot, no need to cycle between waves anymore. 2: increase damage, as you said it feels kind of weak in pve. Give that thing a pve buff! 3: idk what the catalyst does, I didn’t bother getting it but I assume auto loading holster is probably the best perk bungie could ever give a grenade launcher with a high reload speed or handling. 4? This one is a meh but could be interesting. Each wave could also have a certain effect to them. Solar kill will cause enemies to explode, void kills will cause nearby enemies to be volatile and arc kills from the wave will have chain lightning. All that for only one burst per shot. Does it sound OP? Yes its an exotic, make it fun. Would it break pvp? Yes but bungie can clearly separate the sandboxes as they have been doing already so its not impossible.

                  • As long as whatever changes don’t bleed over to PvP. Game needs less rez, fire two special ammo shots, die repeat guns. I’d prefer it if they just removed Grenade Launchers from the game in General.

                    Its very good for pvp though. But i agree. Give it chain reaction.

                    • It definitely needs something Borealis has the ionic return and Hard Light has the increased ricochet damage All Dead Messenger does is swap elements
