The DLC is right around the corner as of now and I just can't wait. And weapon crafting has me very hype. But like I said in another post, I am ready for limitations. I'm also sure that the new weapon crafting system with get its share of roasting later on. I just know that it isn't going to be something perfect. But anyways, what are all of my theories regarding weapon crafting? My last post on it was just a bunch of questions, but this time I'm going to do a guessing game.
- All craftable weapons will use swappable barrels, not sights. Us players who've been playing Destiny 2 for a while have noticed the change in weapons lately. There've been a lot more weapons that just use barrel options instead of ones with sights. Perhaps there are some issues making new sights on weapon models or not, or maybe they're trying to mess with weapon zoom still and don't like weapons with long-zoom sights due to effective-range stuff. Who knows?
- If Stasis weapons are included as craftable weapons post-Witch Queen launch, Headstone and other similar traits will be exclusive to them if selectable. Yeah, I don't see Headstone working with a Solar hand cannon. I just don't.
- ...Trait combinations are going to be limited. While I'd rather be wrong about this, I'd rather set up my expectations where I won't be let down being wrong. I'd love a weapon with Demolitionist and Explosive Payload on it at the same time, but I just got a feeling that it might not happen.
- Craftable legendary weapons are going to be limited to 1 or 2 different weapons per weapon type at launch. Another more negative expectation, but this one is based off of the type of content that we've been getting every year for a while. This is a justified expectation.
- Origin traits will not be on craftable weapons. I just doubt it.
- The grind will be real.
Now after The Witch Queen launches and I've checked it out, I'll try to come back to this post and see where I was wrong. Then maybe we'll get some insight on what direction Destiny 2 is taking from there.
EDIT: Okay, just saw a clip for weapon crafting that I apparently missed and can confirm some things already, but I'm still going to wait for it to come out. I think I know how this works now. You're not just crafting a weapon from scratch and the weapons' possible rolls from their own drops do matter, I believe. If the weapon can't roll a certain trait on it normally, then you can't craft it with the trait either.

It actually gonna be pretty diverse. Judging by some of the pictures in the twab a few weeks ago, you will be able to change the rate of fire and the element of the gun (to an extent; either stasis and kinetic or solar, void, and arc). I would also assume that you will only be able to choose one perk column, not 2.
