Why do people use the postmaster as storage and then act shocked they lost items?

Because you can only carry 10 ascendant shards and they cannot be stored in your vault... Meaning postmaster is where they'll go if you don't spend them.

Spend them delete them they are easy to get and a vendor item for sale. Postmaster isn't storage, and losing things are your own fault if you do.
