Artifact Fatigue…

At this point I’m just burnt-out! I’m just tired of playing with weapons for 4 to 6 months that I don’t wanna use. I’m already disappointed in the announcement of the Artifact mod. I don’t wanna play with scout rifles and combat bows. I don’t wanna play with auto-rifles or submachine-guns. I wanna use whatever I want to use! Why can’t I use whatever I want to use whenever I want to use it! Why is that such a bad thing! I can’t use whatever I want to use because Bungie doesn’t want everyone using the same thing….. WHY does that even matter as long as all the players are happy and they’re getting paid!!!! They created champions to low-key force us to use what they want us to use. I want to play how I want to play. At this point it’s becoming frustrated to play the game for enjoyment. This is the only game I have ever played in my life where the developers force you to play how they want. Go ahead start a argument and say “No one’s making you play with anything” - right… heard that before. Your success rate diminishes drastically if you pick a random load out and go into a Master Nightfall let alo-blam!- or even a raid. Furthermore, a fire team full of guardians isn’t going to want to play with you if you have a random loadout. They’re gonna want you to have the weapons that fit the artifact mod if you don’t play how Bungie wants you to play you’re screwed.

  • Unless you are doing GMs or solo lost sector, you don’t NEED to use any of the weapons at all. I don’t get why you kids love blowing things out of proportion just to hate on the game for attention.

      Ain’t it gonna be great trying to grind out 25 mods from the artefact next season It’s bad enough after 12 & needing [i]2500000000[/i] XP points (😆) to gain 1 power level That poor hamster deserves a new wheel & some fresh running shoes!

        • It is absolutely not even remotely that serious. Pick up a weapon, apply the mod, point it at an enemy, and shoot. Antibarrier scouts are decent; Servant Leader is pretty nice. Use more of the exotics that already have intrinsic like Arbalest, Eriana's, Bastion, or whatever.

          • I’m gonna point out that most seasons are 3 months long. It’s only long rn due to witch queen being delayed. In all reality, it’s there to push unused weapon types out. When was the last time you legitimately used a fusion rifle in pve (not talking low level content or bounties)?

            • Idk man, I kinda like that dps weapons change from season too season. It gives this really cool value to weapons that would be lack luster otherwise. For most of the player base in most activities one simply doesn't need to have it. A lot of the time one only NEEDS those mods for high level content. At its core high level content needs to have a strategy or it will simply become dull to the players who spend a good portion of their time in those activities. Ive noticed that the majority of players asking for what you're asking don't do high level activities super often. Not saying that you don't but its a apparent trend. I also think it's worth noting season's "Meta" has a rotation. Season begins: new and old ways to play are introduced or reintroduced while a player gets their power level up. potent weapons are established Early season: player is aquatinted with how the old mods fit with new mods and the accompanying weapons of the season. The community creators start showcasing potent weapons and builds. Mid season: player has found some success with mods in mid- high level content and refines builds and strategies. Player has acquired some new weapons to act as tools for that season or next. Especially powerful weapon rolls are showcased by the community creators. late season: player has polished their strategy and completes the hardest content and acquired all gear from those activities, potentially useful for next season, or new mid-late season activities. Boredom starts to set in, play style becomes stale. Community creators have well oiled stratigies they talk about for various activities. End of season: player is bored of current state of high level content and no longer plays as much as they did. This is when speculation of next season set in and the player starts to prepare for that potential new meta. Community creators prep videos for next season are regular and often. Vault management, material farming, etc. Champion mods are required for high level activities and make lower level activities easier. Seasons have a rotation to keep player activity as high as it can a produce a fresher experience. If everything was made highly viable the game would get very stale very quickly. Conversations would be less of 'can fusion rifles take a back seat' to becoming 'I am board can we have new weapon perks to make me feel more powerful' Lo and behold you now have a power creep problem. a problem that many in the community hate more then the concept of artifact mods.

            • I Have been saying this for a while, Why can't we have a weapon mod for unstoppable, overload and barrier.. simple.. slap that on a weapon and voila its the champion type you want to use. It may be the load out you want, not as perfect as synergyzing with the artifact mods out that season but, it would allow you to choose the weapons you wanted to use that we grind so much to procure. We don't need to have a PVE meta for high end activities, we need to have fun with the weapons we grind out in a way we want to have fun.

              • Just give all exotic weapons champion modifiers. Would make the artifact mods a little more bearable. The main issue is that the artifacts last a whole season. You shouldn't be forced to use the same weapons for that length of time.

                • Because for some reason we need a meta for pve which makes absolutely no sense. We should be able to stun champs with whatever primary weapons we want. People think that somehow makes the game easier but it literally makes no difference. It just would make the game more accessible. Scout rifle barrier is nice though but it really shouldn’t matter what primary we use to take down a shield. There’s no advantage to any of the primaries in that area.

                  • Yeah, we should always have a choice. Make groups of weapons that can be used for each category of champions, they stay that way forever, but, you favorise one or two by making them benefit from an artifact mod such as particle deconstruction or breach and clear. That way we can run what we want, while at the same time “encourage” us to use one type of weapon, because that’s what you do, Bungie. It’s a long season though, so that is one reason you are so burnt out, as am I.

                  • Your argument is completely valid!!!!!!!!! Destiny stated in tweets and in their news when they decided to release Seasonal Content many many many times; that “you’ll be able to play how you want” “whenever you want”. Look it up, it’s all there from years back. And that FIRST season…. You were limited to like 3 weapons to play any content because of the champion mods. It was a bold face lie by bungie…. Prior to seasons you COULD choose whatever you wanted. Now bungie with their seasons chooses it for you. They don’t even touch that phrase anymore because of all this heartache. And they’ll deny they said you use whatever you want. Their work around is that this next season you invest in all the mods. But for a heavy price of high experience. You’ll still have to use what they want you to use for a while till you get enough to chose 1 more mod.

                  • People have seemingly forgotten that Destiny existed, and was very successful, for 5 years before Shadowkeep and the champion system came around. People saying, "oh you just want to use handcannons forever. You hate variety!" No... what? The champion system [i]removes[/i] variety. Instead of having 7 different primaries for nightfalls, we have 4. [spoiler](and not every champion activity has all 3 kinds, so in something with overloads and barriers, you're probably using a bow or an auto, so only 2 options)[/spoiler] Oh you want to use a scout, hand cannon, or smg? Too bad, there are no mods for them. Sure you [i]could[/i] use one, but it's not very good idea, as you will be putting yourself at a disadvantage. "But people will just use the same loadout all the time! What about variety?!" The good thing about no champions is that if you want variety, you can have variety! And if someone wants to use the same thing forever... well why are you getting worked up about what [i]other[/i] people want to use?

                    • Don't wanna use Scouts, don't wanna use ARs, don't wanna use SMGs, don't wanna use Bows. That leaves shotguns, fusions, GLs, hand cannons, linear fusions, rocket launchers, swords. If we limit that to primary weapons, it JUST leaves hand cannons and o-blam!- launcher. If we limit that to special weapons it leaves shotguns, fusions, GLs, one hand cannon, and a small pool of linear fusions. If we limit it to heavy weapons, that leaves rocket launchers, most linear fusions, all swords, some grenade launchers, and one shotgun. I assume you're just talking about Primary weapons since those are the weapons most impacted by the mod issue. So...You only want to use hand cannons and/or o-blam!- launcher? Zero interest in any of the other weapon types, so you just won't use them unless you have to for the content? Well I think that's your problem, you're too stubborn and too rigid. No flexibility. And honestly, if that's how you are, then you should really just stick to low level content. High level and endgame content requires flexibility. It requires you to be willing to use what's most effective to finish the job. Even without artefact mods being an issue, hand cannons would still lose out to other weapons in terms of effectiveness, and any teammate running with you would want you to run something more useful.

                      • I do find it funny what d1 meta for a long time was fb/black hammer/galley. They specifically said they didn't want people to feel like they have to run that to play more efficient. Then artifacts show up and its in some ways worse than d1 meta. Idk. It's better now but really everyone is just kind of running the same weapons for the most part.

                          Champions kill any and all replayability in grindable activities such as Nightfalls and Lost Sectors as you are forced to run the same setup over and over and over and over.

It screws with the Artificial Challenge and we all know how Bungie likes their Artificial Challenge. That's the overall reason we have champions. Bungie can't mechanically create a challenge outside of Dungeons and Raids.........even then, their mechanics are tedious. Stand on a plate , pick up a buff, carry a ball etc. Some days it's annoying but I get why they've done it.

                              • So, you don't want to use Scouts, Bows, Autos or SMGs and I have a sneaking suspicion that you don't want to use Sidearms either. If you liked Pulse Rifles, then you probably wouldn't be complaining as they have a mod this season. Let me guess, you want to use Hand Cannons forever in all content? Does it ever occur to you that other people [i]don't[/i] want to do that? "waaah variety is bad" is a pretty common take by Hand Cannon users.

                                • They won’t get rid of this. It’s how they create fake difficulty and call it content. Slap some champions in the same old boring BS and call in “end game” content. Not to mention you spend call season grinding useless light.
