What does Bungie gain from making armor unsymmetrical, they always got like a shoulder pad enormous for the titan or the mark either covering left, right, or front and back. Few full ones. It just bugs me how one side of my armor looks good but the other side is sometimes absurd

Edited by HollowedWayfarer: 1/17/2022 9:05:08 PMAsymmetry can look awesome if done right. Look at a set like the Chroma Superior Hunter armor from D1 or the few D1 sets that carried over into D2. Their asymmetry is subtle enough to not be blatantly obvious, but noticeable enough to make the armor look cool and unique. It’s also properly balanced. Compare the Chroma Superior armor I showed to the Iron Will armor for the Hunter. Like why is everything covered in thick metal plating except for the one arm?

Why does it bother you?

-
They ruined the armor. Arms is gloves now. Transmog has encouraged incompetent armor design and drops.
-
Ironically, it’s functionally correct to have asymmetrical armor. Aesthetically, it can look ok if done well but here, a lot of it is a hot mess
-
Just a guess. In the art world, symmetry can be seen as bland. From a 3D modeling standpoint, it’s more difficult to make unsymmetrical stuff which showcases more skill as a artist. It would definitely look better on a portfolio showcasing your skill.
-
Agreed. Bungie's insistance on the asymmetrical aesthetic is bugging the hell out of me, similar to not many good capes for the hunter.

Talkin about odd rolls? Like 61 63 and 65 stat rolls ?

Symmetry is bland.

titans suffer from this greatly. Every time I go to customize my armor, i find myself not having much to choose from cause most of it are ugly pieces of armor that don't look right at all. Past few seasons I've hated it. Unsymmetrical shoulder pieces- Omega Mechanos Steeplechase Phenotype Plasticity Siegebreak As nice as it looks, Interlaced LEGATUS, these gauntlets had so much potential to be awesome I know it's a halloween set, but Chemflesh Ringwalker Tangled Web, these I actually like. Probably one of the only few good looking ones that work. Pfhorian Kairos Function WildWood Phoenix Strife Type 0 Devastation complex, literally just the Phoenix strife recolored. Holdfast Crystocrene Vigil of Heroes Dreambane Pathfinder's And descending Echo. Now boots are another problem on their own, there aren't too many good looking boots in the game for titans that mesh well with most armor pieces.
