And really thought that that was a good idea? How about just make it intrinsic to all exotic weapons to drop orbs of power regardless of a catalyst. The catalyst should make the weapon better.
Normally I'll be the first to defend a decision these bungie devs make but good lord man... this is a tone deaf change.

It is as a fellow post suggested…. “A form of continuing Sunsetting” They did it with warmind mods by making them extremely expensive and nerfing them, now most players do not use them. They are continuing on the trend by making the orbs of light mods harder to activate, basically nerfing them, making them obsolete for the most part. Bungie either have a very immature designer working on mods now …insert tantrum voice “I want them using my mods now not those old ones they actually like” stamps foot…. Or… It’s just Bungie’s continued desire to create grind, therefore content out of thin air.

I think some of you owe Luke Smith an apology. See, plenty of other people can suggest and approve dumb and hated ideas too.

So now our masterworked weapons are essentially worthless

I think the orb change is a positive if something like I describe below comes with the weapon crafting… You want to create your god roll (insert weapon name here). You have it drop but with 1 of the 9 options that make up a weapon that would make up your god roll. (2x barrels/scopes, 2x mag perks, 2x column 1 2x column 2 and the masterwork perk we have now) You go to where you craft the weapon and you ‘sacrifice’ that weapon to start your god roll and in doing so, you take 1 perk from the sacrificed weapon and it is on your weapon ‘frame’ (kill clip in column 2 for example). That’s were you start ‘crafting’. With each drop of said weapon, you can sacrifice it and take 1 perk from it and add it to you frame until your frame is complete. Then your grind begins for true mastery. You use the basic frame with no perks unlocked (just like D1). Once you have all the perks unlocked, it becomes masterworked. This means the stats bump up just like on Adept weapons right now (plus 2/5 to things like range, stability etc as well as the plus 10 to the masterwork option we have now) Hope this made sense. Ask questions if you want clarity on anything.

It's Sunsetting all over again

Edited by Phyromancer: 1/15/2022 7:28:16 AMThey have a new director for this game D2. Also a new manage man. Both new. Go figure! At this point, everything seems like a joke anyway. Even before they came around. Game was already a sinking ship. Now this! 😂😂😂 Instead of throwing a life preserver, they put an anchor instead. 😂😂😂

Edited by mja calg: 1/18/2022 5:12:13 AMThe "reason" (lie) for doing this was because some exotics don't have catalysts, Bungle is to lazy or inept to come up with Catalysts for them so they need to wreck everything else to add this in. Of course the obvious thing to do is make orb Generation an intrinsic ability for all Exotic Weapons - regardless if they have or don't have a Catalyst, but this is Bungle we are talking about, whose can't make a simple change without involving major changes to the games. The real reason Bungle is doing this is to make us weaker and slow our progress in the game. By removing orb generation for all our masterworked weapons (sunsetting them), they slow our already nerfed Super regeneration rate even lower, make our "Charged with Light Mods" useless, force us to choose either Orbs or Ammo Finder mods for our helmet and make us less powerful. It's basically Destiny 2 Y1 "Go Slow" all over again with a dose of Weapon Vaulting on the side..

I too would like to know the name of the moron who thought of this AND the name of the other moron that approved it tbh.

Using any armor mod slot is not going to be good news any way it gets spun! You have a max 10, and no matter how many slots are present, yes I’m talking about Adept, you still have only max 10! They will either spend a slot for free, now you have 1 less slot: or, price the mods so you are unable to generate orbs without losing something valuable. TLDR: Super Nerf, period…

That person should be fired. Leaders who approved the change should be fired.

I'm guessing Bungo see two things coming out of this... Less work on their part More dress sales ALL D2 decisions are based on those two working principles...
-
This is typical bungie logic though. Same old story for the past seven years. Fix stuff that isn't broke and doing the total opposite of what the community asks for. We just wanted orbs without catalysts. Bungie's wheels start turning and then sieze up. Surprised orb gen didn't end up as an eververse exclusive or some massive grind like transmutation was.

The same person that sat there and done the tier rubbish on supers. Even with orbs now some supers take so long it makes you think when use this subclass now.
-
Probably the weapons team when they wanted to add more to guns but the resources weren't available. That would fit Bungies vague reasoning for the change.
-
They're making another problem on purpose so they can "fix" it later for praise, since they did what people asked for
-
The mod itself isn't bad. The issue is them taking orb generation away from current and future masterworked weapons because that was the main point to masterworking them in the first place.
-
We get stat boosts on masterworked weapons. We get stat boosts on masterworked armor as well. I don't get orbs from masterworked armor. What's the problem?
-
Probably the same person who gave us the auto fire mod.
-
Orbs orbs orbs
-
They're just creating a needless redundancy. Elemental Wells already exist and basically do the same thing. Only difference being, you don't need a mod to generate orbs, and shouldn't. Nobody will run this mod.
