In a burst of radiant light, a figure emerges onto the street, his face hidden by a heavy iron cowl. He is adorned in a cloth tunic covered by chainmail and steel greaves. On his chest is emblazoned a red lion, teeth dripping with gore. Behind him drags a longsword, sparks ripping from its tip as it is dragged down the pavement. “What devilry works the night here? In the name of my Lord, I shalt put an end to it.”
Decided this was the perfect opportunity to test a new character.

Chain 2
The creature scales the wall of a building and vanishes into the mist above, but you can hear its claws upon the stone above as you follow after the civilians! You catch up as they stop to hide behind a rusted old bus, the creature snickering somewhere above.
-
“Do not worry. I cannot be stopped.”
-
There are six of them, armed with makeshift weapons. A man in a suit leans closer and whispers, "We were told the old temple in in center of town is safe." And an Elven woman finishes, "It should be right through there." She points down the street beyond where the rows of buildings end to a thick wall of mists.
-
“Temples, no matter to which deity, are havens. Follow me.”
-
They follow as you lead them out in the open when the nightmare drops down to the roof of the bus and crashes through it, struggling to right itself! Some of the civilians make a run for it and vanish through the mists ahead while the others run behind you and wait, readying their pipes, tools, and bats
-
He goes to his belt, and pulls out a orb, topped with a cross and encrusted with jewels. That’s right! It’s a Holy Hand Grenade! With counts down to three, not 5, not 4, and you can just take 1 and 2 out of the picture, and throws it at the bus.
-
The others see you toss the grenade and run through the mists before it explodes! A large portion of the bus is obliterated with the other half scorched and smoking, leaving no sign of the creature!
New chain cuz scrolling
The light strikes the goblin and it burns to a crisp in a near instant! The two crossbowmens eyes widen as they're reloading! Then the boss reappears from behind with a few more goblins, cursing and panicked. And from behind them comes a shrill scream
-
“What could have possibly made that?”
-
As the goblins sprint towards you, a straggler is pounced upon by a large gray furred feline with six limbs and a mane of lashing tendrils upon its spine. It looks to you with too many milky white eyes and smiles widely revealing needle-like teeth, then steps over the still body of its prey, snickering with a series of throaty clicks. The boss goblin stops between you and the creature and looks back, then looks up and asks, "Truce?"
-
“How about...trade offer?”
-
He looks back at the creature stalking closer, watching curiously. "Sure sure make it quick!"
-
“Well, I can give you what every living being wants, and I don’t want anything in return.”
-
"What, money? Cuz-" And a call from behind interrupts as another goblin is dragged into the mist screaming "Help me!" The creature opposite the source slowly paces before the group of goblins infront of you, hissing... laughing?
-
“No, not money.” ’Please come closer.’ He thinks.
-
Are you projecting your thoughts at him?
-
No, he’s hoping the creature will come closer.
-
Ah, well that's funny because...
The creature tilts its head towards you and in your mind you hear, "Leave them, we hunger!" And then the boss looks past you, eyes widening even more, and starts to conjure more shadows, "Alright well good luck with all this boys!" From behind another hissing laugh as a second creature emerges from the mists.
-
“This is getting bothersome.”
-
"Agreed!" The boss falls through shadows below him and the others scatter! The first creature screams and chases the goblins while the other stalks closer towards you.
-
He faces it. “Prepare to be vanquished.”
-
It lunges past you, slashing with its front claws as it does, the first missing and the second running across your arm!
-
“Ah! You WILL pay!” He stabs at its side.
-
Your blade leaves a large gash across its side that leaks wisps of shadow into the air. The Nightmare growls and snaps at your sword arm, but falls short! The other has vanished into the mists, as have the goblins.
-
“What are you? In all my years of demon slaying, I have never encountered something like you.”
