I know. Leave it to Bungie to think putting fan fiction and lore in the same section was smart.

???? Cuz it’s the same thing?????

My favorite lore is the massive -blam!- that the Vanguard hosts every Tuesday night with the citizens.

It’s not but I understand you think differently 🤪

Actually Bungie said so :) sorry

Uh huh. So the stuff people make up that goes against lore in the game and lore cards….is still lore somehow? Right. Lacks a certain continuity. Or was it just them encouraging fans by indulging them? Cause that costs them nothing. I mean…if Bungie came out and said the fan fiction is the lore for the alternate timelines we never see, I’d be cool with that. It would, canonically, make perfect sense and would resolve the conflicts between actual lore and fan fiction.

You do know about the timeline thing, right? I mean it’s all over destiny’s lore… There is literally lore that even they created, that goes against other lore…

Do I know about the timelines? I brought them up, as you read, so it seems an odd question to ask. So did they do what I thought of? If they said something about fan fiction I can’t say I saw it. Retcons are one thing and even some D2 lore has a before and after phase. They would of had to of stopped game production to not write it on the fly until they caught up. But see official changes are called retcons for a reason. Official changes are canonical changes. A lot of fan fiction rewrites whole events, changes dialogue, takes liberties with rules, etc. Unofficial changes are… fan fiction. So if they want to indulge you and say the fan fiction is what happens in alternate timelines, fine by me. It’s a harmless bone to toss to fans. Still fan fiction.

You’re admitting you don’t know
A lot of fan fiction rewrites whole events, changes dialogue, takes liberties with rules, etc.
Just like their own lore has done? You must be joking Listen idk why you’re so mad that our stories are lore. What, it hurt your feelings that I’m partners with a thousand year old bug man? Done with this conversation as you are clearly baiting or just don’t understand the lore.

It’s a statement of fact unless Bungie said otherwise. You have yet to say, beyond them calling fan fiction lore, how that works when it conflicts with game lore. When I said they could of used the alternate timelines, you didn’t say they did. You argued like I already knew. Pretty sure my statement shows I didn’t know. A writer would of noticed. Substandard writing has its limits I suppose.
