Why do people in muscle cars feel the need to posture up and flex on cars that aren't even in the same league? Lmao

Me in my shitty Outlander Sport that I put a cherry bomb on 'cause why not?: driving as normally would, popped into neutral at light just to rev it out a bit 'cause I like my wimpy 4 cyl growl. Paying absolutely zero attention to the vehicle behind me. Camaro bro: immediately changes to other lane and aggressively short shifts up to next signal Me: Okay? Not trying to race, my car thinks it has torque but it's slow af Camaro bro: aggressively accelerates around vehicle in front of him and speeds on to next signal Me: 👁 👄 👁 pulls up beside him at signal with music blasted Camaro bro: drag race mode activated! oh -blam!-! red light 10 feet away, down shifts while aggressively rev matching Me: noticeably shrugging while pulling up beside him at signal with music blasted. Pretends to get ready to race him only to turn indicator on and turn into gas station driveway Like, why? A stock 'Maro is making like what? 300 hp or close to it? Meanwhile I, in the much heavier vehicle am making an estimated 127 IIrc. Why so intimidated by my crappy 4 cyl compact suv?

  • I got an 04 mustang and I go the speed limit because gas is expensive. I just like how mustangs look performance is irrelevant to me.

    • I feel like most muscle car owners are just arrogant. My father owns a C8 corvette and I can’t tell you how many morons driving mustang try to race him or pull out in front of him. Like bro what are you going to do?

    • I don't do that in my car, but I do like the sound of the 485 horses galloping under my hood. The last thing I need is a ticket or an accident. It's bad enough the orange color catches the eye of not just the po-po, but everyone else. Then again, I waited a long time to have a muscle car, and every so often, I let it loose on the country roads where I live.

    • I have a 2002 WRX and I've never felt the need to race anyone in traffic. What are you trying to prove? You think my car is fast because it has a hood scoop and a wing on it? Because it really isn't lmao

      • That's easy. It was a Camaro. As a car guy I've seen about every aspect of how certain drivers of certain models pilot their vehicles. Most muscle car owners are accustomed to every would be racer out there pulling up along side at the stop light and initiating the challenge. The majority of the muscle car owners will either totally ignore the challenge, because they aren't going to waste the gas on something that isn't going to be close, or they're simply not inclined to have to show off. Then there are those who always have to make sure everybody knows that they think they have the fastest car on the street, and make a point of being a -blam!-. Today though it's the 30 somethings in their 48" lifted, coal rollers that seem to be the most aggressive drivers. Everything is beneath them whether starting at a light or out on the street let alone the highway. They will run over you just because they have no concern for anyone else on the road.

      • I know the feeling. I have an outdated Honda with an exhaust leak. No I didn't put a turbo in there and no its not a riced-out mod of some kind, its a bad muffler with a few small holes in it. Pulled up next to a Mustang in my clanky junkpile and he is just sitting there revvin' up for no reason, light turns green and he takes off, leaves me in the dust. It takes my car an actual minute just to get up to 45mph, kinda funny, he is over here trying to flex a smol-pp by overcompensating...meanwhile I know what I got, and it takes me from point A to point B...

      • Yikes. Is all I have to say when I encounter a driver who has something to prove.
