Transgeder Splash Screen

Dear Bungie, why is there a transgender splash screen in Destiny 2? We understand your corporate core values. Most, if not all corporations, have similar core values. we agree with them and practice them daily. As a heterosexual, I personally don't care what gender, -blam!- , color, whatever anyone identifies with. We, as guardians come to Bungie to play Destiny 2 and to get away from the politics associated with anything , I mean anything. We respect your corporate core values but splashing your core values on the game screen really isn't necessary is it?

    • it's not about the majority wanting to play the game, it's about bungie wanting to make them feel welcomed and feel like they belong so if you're mad that they have a 2 second pop-up and an emblem for people that care, maybe try thinking about others before yourself

        • I really feel like if they'd acknowledged some other group or cause you wouldn't be making this post. Like, wasn't there an emblem and splash screen for COVID-19 help? Unless you're not from this planet it's clear to all it's been highly political across the world. Where was all this fuss for that coming up on your screen? For me, this means you and a lot of others here take issue with them acknowledging that specific group but don't want to own that publicly for fear of being seen as someone who is prejudiced towards them. A lot of the folks in this thread have pre-existing buttons for that group which got pressed when they saw that splash screen. It really seems like you and others think the way you worded your posts hides this, but it doesn't.

        • What feeds and maintains the vitriol is that 'unity' and 'acceptance' is preached far and wide. The reality, however, in making all these subgroups of people does the exact opposite, creating subgroups promotes division not unity. Why can't we just all be people? I have an alternative lifestyle nephew, hardest working, nicest kid I ever met. I also worked with alternative lifestyle folks, I've only ever thought of them as other people, not as a subgroup. If we were allowed to see other people as actual people and not subgroups most of this trouble would disappear. But the more we are separated and identified as something else.....we will all get nowhere.

          • It's a free emblem allowing you to be supportive of transgender people or not. You don't have to read it or use it

              • I guess what the real sad state of affairs is people need to be reminded to be nice to each other... and then you make a post that literally clicking off a pop up is some how affecting your life - especially because of the message it portrays. Dude, thats really weak.

                • Who cares. People should be free to live their lives and be happy. There’s so much more important things to be concerned with in this world and you choose to complain about this.

                • In all honesty. With how hard they've been going at this I think it's pretty clear that this is just Bungie's culture now. It's not an attempt for virtue points. I can respect that. They built up their name and platform we play on now. If they want to raise awareness for something they think is important by putting a 5 second annoyance in their game I see no problem with that.

                  • There are reasons for this. Mainly due to their previous association with Activision. So it’s rather obvious why they need to reinforce that a) bungie is all inclusive and b) they ensure they get out in front of any cancel culture warriors who feel duty bound to witch hunt anybody that was/is connected to Activision. Personally I think there are many things you might want to complain about but a 2 second splash screen that can be dismissed with the press of a button really isn’t worthy of your attention tbh. Better to be inclusive than not - I also wish celebs, films and gaming would not feel the need to provide political commentary as to me movies and games are a form of escapism. If I want a political take I will switch on the news. At the end of the day it’s bungies choice they still have to live in the world we do and have to tiptoe through a reactionary world along with the rest of us. No harm done imo.

This statement goes out to every single one of you. It’s sad that we (D2 Community and honestly most people in general) can no longer agree to disagree or respect someone else’s opinions/standpoints. You don’t have to necessarily agree with someone, but at least respect their opinions enough to not argue with them for an hour on a public forum or make a scene in person. It’s not that hard to just suck it up, and move on.

the fact that this bothers people so much is utterly mindblowing to me, literally click a button and never see it again. the "this week in destiny" pop ups are more annoying. if you really, truly "personally don't care" you would have clicked through the pop up without even reading it and already forgotten about it by now. that's what I did. genuinely the most insignificant thing to complain about of all time.

                            • Oh my jebus.. it's just a cosmetic. A cosmetic that gives a minority some representation. How is this a bad thing? When did somebody's -blam!- become politics? There's some pretty amazing examples of pathetic privilege on this thread. "It doesn't bother me but I can't stop talking about it".. if you don't like it don't look. Nothing is being shoved down your throats. Bet you lot are the same people that complain about Christian bashing on a fictional program. There's an off button you know.. Grow up and move on.
